Default Federal workers, starting with Air Traffic & Airport Security, should all just walk off the job

It is abundantly clear at this point that Washington legislators do not respect Fed workers. Conservatives not respecting them we already know of. But the political machine in DC - either side of the aisle - is clearly happy to routinely use Fed employees' livelihoods as bargaining chips as they spar over their agendas.

If I were these guys, I'd be walking out and organizing a strike. I know, it sounds like a wet dream for a conservative. No government! Take it down to zero employees! Well, let's test that. Let's have a true government shutdown, if that's what we want. Right now, we shut down the part about their paychecks but still expect them to provide the service.

No air traffic control. No airport security. Take it down to zero. Watch air travel grind to a halt.

Coast guard, FDA food inspections, drug approvals, homeland security...same thing. Bring it all to a halt.

Do that a few times when politicians get frisky and maybe the *******s in Washington will get the message that screwing around with people's livelihoods who are actually doing an important service to our society is not acceptable.

Politicians can spar over walls and whatever the hell else, but they shouldn't be able to hold peoples' ability to pay for their kid's school and for the roof over their head as hostage for leverage.

Some of the affected folks can be fired and blacklisted (permanently losing their eligibility for other federal jobs) if they strike. Depends on their condition of employment. Quite a risk to take to make a political statement don't you think?

I support the shutdown and the strike. We are getting far more government than we need, let's support getting less and less.

I agree. Government employees who still have to work should be getting paid in a timely manner as usual, or not be working at all. The essential ones of course. There should be a short term funding bill that at least pays them till everything's resolved. This is America and when you show up to work, even if you work for the evil federal gubbmint, you're supposed to get paid.

The furloughed ones sitting at home, I don't feel quite as bad for, at least they are getting a "vacation", albeit a stressful one.

You're taking this too far.

Without the FDA we'll have Amish gangsters (aka farmers) on every street corner selling fresh milk.

That “test” has already been run, we know how it turned out .... and so do the employees at TSA and Air Traffic Control.

They just passed a bill promising them back-pay... so now they can go back to work. Trump still needs to sign it.
