If it is a symbol of hate, do people who wear MAGA hats in public deserve any abuse they receive over it? I'm talking verbal abuse and maybe some minor physical abuse such as knocking the hat off of the person's head.

Edit to add: I do understand that you can vote yes - that it is a symbol of hate, and not believe people wearing the hat deserve any sort of verbal and/or mild physical abuse. That's a separate question, more of a follow up for those who voted yes.

Yes, it's a symbol of hate. They don't deserve any physical abuse but if they are going to wear those hats in public they should expect to be called out verbally for their racism and bigotry.

When I was in CA during '16 I wore a MAGA shirt around Costco and got about 17 dirty looks in 30 minutes

Nobody came up to me to yell, though, but that's probably because as a white supremacist homophobic islamaphobic germaphobic 2nd amendment bible thumper they must have assumed I would just bust a cap in them with my 7 concealed weapons since I'm #obvi a nutjob

No, but they do symbolize a poor choice in selection of role models.

Yes. MAGA hats = Make America White Again. That is the main rallying function of the hat. I dare anyone who wears a such a hat to challenge this premise.

No, it's not a symbol of hate.

It's definitely an example of how polarized we've become, though. You're not allowed to support one side without being accused of being some kind of "ist" or "phobe" anymore.
