Gee I wonder why they might be interested in doing that?
The point is that during a pregnancy what is monitored the most is fetal growth. As long as the fetus is growing within normal ranges then it is assumed that all is well. Some red flags may not be noticed, may be dismissed because of normal fetal growth, or may not show up until the last trimester. And at that point, the doctors have to do more intrusive tests to diagnose the problem, then there is the time it takes to explore what the options are, then there is the time it takes for prospective parents to determine what course of action to follow, and then there is the time it actually takes to pursue that course of action. What if she goes into premature labor, ie her cervix dilates, before she's had a chance to inform the doctor of the plan, or before she's had a chance to figure out how to pay for the plan she's chosen. Late-term abortions are a minimum $25,000-$30,000. And who knows if a woman's insurance plan will pay? The handful of doctors who perform late-term abortions require payment up front. They have to deal with security for their homes and offices, staff and records, patients and patients' privacy and so on. They have additional costs for paperwork because what they do is heavily regulated. Their insurance rates are exorbitantly high.

The point is that when late-term anomalies show up, it's not a problem that takes a few minutes or even a few hours to diagnose and to determine what to do. It takes days, and sometimes even weeks. And giving prospective parents the opportunity to deal with the situation is the compassionate thing to do.

Family planning isn't all that difficult.

You just have to put the emphasis on planning.

Also, I used comdoms when I was young and single.

Yes..... every time.
I applaud you that you were so responsible. I think you should also consider yourself lucky. Other responsible people haven't been so lucky.

Are you aware that you contradict yourself with nearly every post?

First you say no doctor would do such a thing, then you say it's necessary to wait until the last minute.

All while ignoring the fact that Dems are including language in the bill allowing for things like the mother's mental health as a valid reason for last minute abortions.

Congrats. I guess you never broke one....

Anyway, this still doesn't change the fact that some other people who are not you use birth control improperly, or not at all, or not every time, or, their method of birth control fails.

Should a woman become pregnant, whether it was planned or not, can decide if she wants to continue with the pregnancy or terminate it. It's really that simple and all the "KEEP YER LEGS CLOSED" comments written on the internet are not likely to change that.

Are you aware that I do not contradict myself? I never said "it's necessary to wait until the last minute. NEVER SAID THAT. NOT EVER. DON'T APPRECIATE YOU SAYING THAT I DID.

The mother's mental health is risked when forcing her to carry a non-viable fetus to term. I'm sorry you don't have the empathy to understand that. I'm sorry that you are unable to grasp that these women in these situations WANT to go through their pregnancy, WANT to have babies. It's actually evil of YOU to try to force them to give birth to babies that are critically ill and will die during or shortly after childbirth. YOU are the EVIL one.

DON'T CLAIM THAT OTHER POSTERS HAVE SAID THINGS THEY HAVEN'T. LIES DON'T MAKE YOUR ARGUMENT.

So the guy who had a vasectomy was stupid? The woman who had a tubal ligation should have known she could still get pregnant, huh? All these stupid people.....

I said I'm not for all abortions being Illegal.....but apparently you missed that.

Color me shocked.

IMO, You have one trimester to fix your mistake.

After that you're committing murder out of selfish irresponsibility for the sake of convenience.

Again, anecdotal examples that are rare instances don't negate the general validity of the concept.

It's like the argument that some people used to use against wearing seat belts, that because they knew someone who knew someone who's life was saved when they were thrown from a burning car because they weren't wearing a seatbelt.....
