I had to listen to a conversation at work where two coworkers talked about the polar outbreak. We're going to hit 50 degrees early next week so that is proof that global warming is real. But being at negative 5 and negative 10, that was an anomaly that can't be explained. Nice people, but their limit of understanding is what they hear on the TV.
Meanwhile, Miami Beach is already dealing with major issues with regular flooding just from high tides and king tides (known as “Sunny Day Flooding”). Some houses even have water coming up through their shower drains.
Roads are now being built several feet higher so people can still safely drive even while sidewalks are flooded. Real estate prices of the area are beginning to be affected and flood insurance prices are rising past an already expensive level south Florida pays.
Industrial pumps are being installed throughout the area in an attempt to hold back the rising waters and building codes are beginning to be revised.
And yet, here we are, still debating the science.
Opinion piece but an excellent article on the history of Miami during the Eemian Interglacial Period, which began about 130,000 years ago and ended 15,000 compared to today. It was slightly warmer than today due to changes in the earths tilt but at that time most of Miami was a reef. Geologists are taking a close look at the gradual changes in that area.

Deniers don't have the science background to hold an intelligent discussion on this topic. All they have is emotional ad hominem, politically biased, pseudoscience misinformation from non-credible websites to post.
Well gullible warmers........I have the family house at the beach in San Diego.........the east coast guy is spot on. The tides here are the same as they were when the place was purchased in 1947.

What happened to acid rain, oooozone hole getting larger, polar bears dying off, seas raising, suv vehicles ruining the earth, excessive melting of glaciers and iceburgs.............all garbage fake lies.
Nature does what nature does. Get used to it. And, as you continue to fall back on that worn out "science denier" garbage you only make fools of yourselves. No one listens anymore.

No don't read up on science, just use your intuition rather than NASA and IPCC. I would love to hear your source of information but this is where the conversation usually ends. Thanks for the weather report in the Midwest.

The polar vortex has been explained, and it's causes are clear...Regarding the science book, how about you learning at least the basics....Your post would be less fictional.

It just exposes another way in which he is so disconnected from science. At the same time as the sea levels has risen, a new island has been exposed off the coast of North Carolina. Shelly Island. That sure makes it sound like the sea level is lowering, doesn't it?
But it isn't lowering. A natural consequence of the movement of water is creating and rearranging sediment, including tendencies to deposit it in particular locations, which creates islands. The process is no different than how wind created the Great Sand Dunes.
But, of course, someone who is very disconnected from science might use this natural process to justify their position on how the absence of man-made climate change has caused their local area to be removed from a flood zone, and that sediment deposits has nothing to do with their growing shore line.
The poster might want to look up the definition of "accretion" before commenting further.

This is the seductive part of AGW- suddenly every lay person, with no formal scientific training at all, are "experts" and all those who disagree are just pitiful imbeciles.
It is hilarious how AGW turns college communications majors and those with GEDs to be physicists, chemists, and climate scientists. The funny thing is that don't even appreciate the humor of this situation, as they are too busy enjoying their new status as "scientific experts".

I've been over this with you already. Do you realize that it only requires a high school level of math and science in order to be able to understand how to interpret data charts and graphs? That is if you did well in those courses while in high school.
No one has to have advanced science degrees or years of research on their resume in order to understand the causes of Global Warming.
There are really only two things that determine the Earth's temperature, or the temperature of any object that's heated by an external source. The first is the energy that goes into it, which is primarily energy produced by the Sun and absorbed by the Earth. The second is the energy that leaves the Earth, which is primarily due to the Earth radiating it away.
Imagine that, mother nature doing exactly what it wants regardless of how many SUVs are on the road. What a crazy world.
If someone was peeing on some of you, you would claim it was raining. Trying to discuss climate with any of you is like trying to explain the Theory of relativity to a monkey.
