Yes, there's no doubt that CO2 is a potent GHG and punches far above its weight, in terms of concentration, as it absorbs infrared radiation so much more effectively than water vapor.
But God made the earth self-regulating. Negative feedback mechanisms will prevent runaway climate change.
Is this what passes for a scientific article for you? Do you think this is an intelligent article?
It's man-made changes (among others) that release C02 into the air that trap heat from the Sun. Without this amount of C02, much more energy from the sun would radiate into outer space, instead it's trapped and heats the earth. This is how greenhouses work. You can build a warm greenhouse in a cold place like Iceland, that just from trapping heat from the sun, can maintain temperatures 10-20 C warmer than its surroundings.
But of course, you show me an article that creates and tears down a strawman. Lack of intelligence, dishonesty, ignorance? Which of the 3 describes the reason you dared to quote that missive to me?
That’s not how heat is generated in our atmosphere. IR energy interacts with gases in the atmosphere, which induced vibration and increases atmospheric temps.
Man made climate change is having very real effects on all of us. Extreme weather events, as predicted by scientists, are happening more frequently and with increasing severity.
We can debate the technical accuracy of temperature monitoring equipment, historical estimation and future extrapolation models all day long in this highly educated thread.
Or we could just look at the actual measured content of CO2 in the atmosphere. As of 2018 it is 410 ppm folks.
"But rabaman, it was 400 ppm just 800,000 short years ago, what's the big deal?"
Well in the late 1990's it was 350 ppm. So that's a 17% increase in atmospheric CO2 in just 20 years. At the start of the industrial revolution, it was 280 ppm, so that's a solid 46% increase.
The human species is only 100,000 years old, so, we have entered uncharted territory for us here.
"But rabaman, ppm sounds like a fake thing made up by academic elitists. CO2 is harmless and doesn't really do anything"
Do you or do you not believe in man made climate change? Care to discuss your views?
Of course it exists!! Humans keep cutting down (rain) forests, diverting and using up the fresh water, making garbage, making toxic waste, taking away greenery with building more concrete structures and making paved roads and parking lots. And all of that changes our planet's climate.
Too many people on earth is the main cause for climate change. It doesn't matter if we limit the emissions from cars. Going to electric vehicles is not going to solve global warming. We NEED to cut the human population by at least HALF.
Human beings are not precious or rare. Human babies are also not precious or rare. America needs to realize this. So pro-lifers need to go away. And we shouldn't be spending so much money to try to cure every medical condition. We should also rein in trying to give every single child a college education. Let's focus more on teaching the merits of planned parenthood in the US and especially in the Third World countries and giving out free contraception. And why can't siblings collectively have two children, and then raise them together sharing in the costs and mentoring?
Yes, we are affecting SOME climate change, and mostly it's being done by China. On the other hand we have had 6 or 7 Ice Ages before Man ever existed!
Rate of change. This is the most important factor, and the thing that points to humans, not natural events.
