Save money fighting it, tax the hell out of it and use the money for programs to help keep people away from those types of activities and for sex workers to provide them protections.

We've tried the other way and it's not working.

Man has always wanted to get his head change on, man has always wanted to buy some sex, man has always engaged in some form of gambling.

We're not going to change humanity on that scale, we might as well try another approach.

If other nations have had success with some of this stuff we should look into it. I've heard Portugal has had some success with their drug issues.
Legalize it but keep it contained in areas, like that stuff used to be. It cannot be around residential areas, none of it. You want hos, go to them. Drugs, go to the drug village. Gambling casinos, well there are already some of those, make some more. Before NYC was cleaned up there were plenty of areas of depravity. Make an entire town of it. Sex/drugs/gambling, your pleasure. Do drugs in the park where kids play? Busted. Hos have to be in brothels in contained areas like in Nevada. Do it that way.

You love govt. you think it can heal the sick and cure the junkies of their habits. No that wont make it any bigger at all.

You know I'm not a fan of big government, but I would sooner see the money spent on rehab, drug awareness programs, and jobs programs for those who have cleaned up.

Money well spent rather than money well wasted on filling corporate jails.

i have worked in field of recovery for twenty years if junkies have a clean available cheaper source of drugs....they function within the world just as everybody else does

one idea behind reduced harm is that without the need to search for drugs constantly the thoughts of a sober drug free life become more frequent...no amount of rehabs will force a junky clean..the artificial consequences of the drug war do not work as 100 years of effort have proved a person sobers up in their own time..not yours

if you took all the money out heroin pills would cost about a quarter

If people want to get off drugs there are and will be programs. Programs should be run privately and funded by the people who want to get better or their sponsors or charitable donors.

I'm torn on this topic. While it would be great to get the extra tax revenue from legalizing prostitution, there are numerous downsides.

A few years ago, my wife and I were in Rio. We were walking from Ipanema down to Copa for lunch and we looked over and there was a line of Brazilian business men cueing up to enter a "therma" for a mid day quicky. My guess is most were middle aged married men. My wife looked at me and said "nope this is not a good thing because it tears families apart."

I'm a bit conservative and I tend to agree. Men would use the services if they knew there were no repercussions of getting caught or arrested and the ones that can afford to do so are usually married men aged 30+. It's not really good for the family dynamic.

Good point! I live in Seattle and there are already king sized billboards that advertise the legal weed shops. Imagine of "Good Time Bambi" gets equal billing.....

I do not bring prostitutes to my home. lol. Or do illegal drugs. If I did that would be illegal and would remain so. No one would live in the sin towns, unless they ran the businesses I suppose, it would just be a concentrated area of degeneracy since that is what it is, kept away from people's everyday life. Like Burning Man.

Do you have a problem with legal brothels in certain desert areas in Nevada? I'm fine with that.

Sigh

Of course I don't want more government.

I'll stop. Based on all of your previous posts you're not a rational player with intent to actually have polite discourse.

I knew i shouldn't have bothered to answer you.
