I live in the Seattle metro area and was born and raised inside Seattle's city limits when Seattle was for the average working man and woman.

Sawant is basically the main reason why Amazon is now holding back on further expansion within Seattle's city's limits.
Do you not realize that people like Sawant will therefore be helping your goal? If she didn't get her way and Amazon did lease the space in that building, Seattle would become still more expensive. By chasing away some employers like Amazon, Sawant is actually helping to make Seattle more affordable for "the average working man and woman".
If the government were accepting applications for people to endless kiss their ring, does anyone have any doubt that this guy would apply?

What’s remarkable here, to me, is the framing of this as more pro-state rather than pro-business when in reality it's the voluntary merger of state & corporate power. In reality, it's the prostitution of both.

This shows why NY was right. It would have never been enough. Amazon would have demanded more and more welfare.
So you hate Amazon for doing what is in their best interests? Not a big fan of Amazon but at least that it is their decision and not yours.... Not matter how much you dislike that...
I guess the (current) Seattle City Council and many progressives in the city are getting their wish: Amazon is moving to diversify their jobs out of seattle, which means decelerated growth in seattle.
After the NYC headquarters2 debacle and the decision to relocate these jobs discussed in OP out of seattle, people should be reading the writing on the wall. Amazon is done with anti-business politicians/cities and looking ahead for locations that value investment, growth and jobs.

Why not cut out the various States & people, & simply cut to the chase?
NY would become WS (for Wall Street) & without the messy & inefficient government representing the people ~ retaining only CEOs, CFOs, et cetera & those only from the largest Wall Street Corporations. & we could do away with the lobbyists too because there would be no need for any 'middle men' to represent the best interests of the corporate entities. We could also do away with that whole voting thing ~ why bother? Perhaps we could keep the voting for Board members in place?
Amazon could replace the state government of another one of our states, & Walmart, Facebook, GE with 3 others, & so on.
The various Corporations could place bids on each one of our states.
Replace the US Constitution's naive preamble of 'We the people' with 'We the Corporations' of Incorporated North America' & so on.

Yes, it's something that the small government types would generally argue against. This is another case where a persons politics trump their principles.
I'm arguing against the government here. Along with arguing against Amazon. That's why my point couldn't be addressed outside of a lame retort.

I don't care if Amazon begs all day. It is indeed a form of blackmail though and for others that is illegal.

What is the principle upon which the argument is based?
