She is pleading not guilty
Huffman pled guilty
Obviously different amounts and Loughlin and husband are both charged
The news seems to think going to trial is really a bad decision on her part—
Guess the husband will plead not guilty and go to trial too
One commentator also said that going to trial puts more pressure on the government prosecutors to look at the students as accessories who up to now have not been considered targets
Ergo more pressure on parents to admit guilt and take a deal...
Loughlin seems to have an attitude like they did nothing wrong (obviously from her plea)
What strategy are they thinking will work at trial?
Entrapment?
They weren’t the ones the authorities went after though—
A dad coughed up the info to get out of securities charge unrelated to this case...
Maybe she's got multiple personalities?

Pleading not guilty is confidence I don't understand. The prosecutors will now ask for maximum sentencing and they're sure to be looking at longer prison sentences than if they had taken a plea deal.
Massimo's company is probably doomed with a longer prison sentence - not that they need the money, but some people like to work.
She is trying to hold out a better deal with no prison time... The people who already pled guilty are also wealthy, that should be a clue for her that it wasn't going to to end well for her... Maybe she is hoping for a Smollet deal...

No, that's not what's going on. The others who paid less money to gain entry into a school, like Felicity Huffman, agreed to a plea deal that included prison time. The prosecutors won't make a less harsh deal with someone who paid a lot more money.
Once you either take a plea deal or plead guilty / not guilty - it's tough to change that. She's stuck now.
The defense will probably spin some tale saying they were told by Rick Singer that parents do this all the time, they were unaware it was illegal, and thought Singer was acting in good faith and in partnership with the university since the school had a rep (the coach) he was working with. She thinks she can sell it that she's completely innocent, and in her mind, she believes that.

How delusional.
Just because winning the lottery is close to 0% doesn't mean nobody will play.... Are millions of people delusional? She is hoping for a better deal... The prosecutors don't want to waste more time and money against good attorneys.. she knows that... Nothing is 100% even prosecutors know that... Look at Menendez, he is 100% guilty but got off....

This isn't the lottery and prosecutors only goal isn't justice but their conviction rate, because that's what furthers their careers.
You don't 'hold out for a better deal' when it comes to being charged with a crime.
They are showing no remorse and didn't play nicely with the prosecutors - so the prosecutors are now going to make sure they're screwed. Read some books on the subject - this is the way it goes.

I don't get what they're thinking.
He hasn't owned the company since 1996 when it went public. Today it's owned by a licensing company.
