ChevySpoons, I respect your knowledge. I don't think I would like the boundaries of my freedoms set by the SCOC, or not to have protection of property rights.
I'm no lawyer, but this you might find interesting.
Also, in the US property rights are not absolute. How many people lost their home due to freeway right of way construction? How many private properties are being taken to build Trumps wall?
Property rights in the US may sound good on paper, but in reality, the little bit about " after due process of law or fair procedures " ( whatever that means ) means the government can and has taken property from citizens.
As for the SCOC, they don't work in a vacuum. You talk like property rights never reach your own supreme court.
It's really odd, that once again, talking about UHC turns into a conversation...at least for SOME Americans, into a conversation about freedom.
That to prove their point, they go after other things in Canada that in their minds, proves we aren't free . To try and convince us that since Canada has hate speech laws, a different way of covering property rights, and the ridiculous notion you can't criticize Islam, that UHC, which we also have means we aren't " free ". Run out of arguments agains UHC, go after what you can.
What the heck do any of these other topics, have to do with UHC ?
I believe it's just desperation, since their arguments agains UHC are weak, being misinformed, or blatant lies.

They don't. Those other topics are just red herrings thrown into the mix in an attempt to cause confusion and hopefully change the topic. The red herrings are intended to try to distract others from recognizing that the red herring throwers don't actually have anything valid to contribute that would be relevant to the original topic.
Red Herring definition: A red herring is something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important question. It may be either a logical fallacy or a literary device that leads readers or audiences toward a false conclusion.

LOL it was a rhetorical question...but ya.
It reminds me of when a child yells " well your mother wears army boots " when they have no arguments left.
The thread was suppose to be about tax and healthcare. I guess a good question for Canadians would be
Well, the right to liberty in the U.S. for about 80 years was interpreted to mean that slavery was OK.

In Canada no one loses their job for criticizing our elected leaders, much less for the minor issue of flipping the bird to a passing motorcade.
When discussions of human rights and freedoms are the topic, you don't even have a seat in the auditorium, let alone up on the dais with the rest (at last count, about 25 in all) of the freer advanced civilized worlds nations.
While you're "cracking up" the rest of the world is laughing their collective azzes off, and it isn't at Canada.
If speaking the truth is unfriendly, I’m fine with that. Attack my country, expect some pushback.
You call your cheap shot at slavery - a crime that none of us are guilty of - “speaking the truth?”
Naw, it’s just a cheap shot. Nothing more.
Nobody here has “attacked” Canada. Nobody. Nobody has said anything nearly commensurate with the insulting jabs that you’ve both taken here. You and BruSan make absurd accusations of people “attacking” and “castigating” Canada based on nothing more than random snippets of mild criticism about your god damn healthcare ... and then you respond with over-the-top bluster as evidenced here.
It’s what you do. It’s who you are. Friendly Canadians.

Snort.
One persons cheap shot is another's historical context.
When someone is going on about " freedom " and your constitution, I think it's fair play to point out that the constitution wasn't always about everyones freedom, ESPECIALLY when that argument is being used as an insult to Canada as NOT being free.

Those weren't cheap shots my dear, those were factual retorts to "cheap shots" from your fellow Americans. Cant stand the heat, don't come into a Canadian kitchen.

Funny thing. I was just reading in the another thread about the census how many Canadians are in retirement communities here in the US. I get it. You hate America. But not all Canadians agree with you.
And some come here for the medicine they can't get fast enough within your precious socialized health system.
People walk, WALK, thousands of miles for a chance to gain entry to this country because they know the picture you paint of this country is a postage stamp on a postcard on the moon. It's such a small part of American life and anybody who has been here knows it. And speaking of human rights ... which I think you are referring to allowing unlimited immigration in this country, CANADA is more stringent about who can get to your country than the US.
I wouldn't flip off any presidential motorcade because I have respect for the office. But you on the other hand, I would flip you off right to your face. You don't like America, don't step foot in it. It's just that easy.
