Do they have a formal "compact?" Or are they just copying each other. Seems to me the latter.

Nope, it's the former...

If there were no formal compact, one would expect these state bills to go into effect immediately... not wait until their new "super" state accumulates 270 electoral votes.

What Nevada is doing is what all States should do. We've had two of the worst presidents in history elected because of the electoral college. Time to fix it. The people deserve to elect the president not an anachronistic process meant to protect the slave States.

Hopefully the bill passes.
blah blah blah. What we have here are losers who want to change the rules. That's it. Whatever you got from Buzzfeed or Raw Story is a steaming pile.

Disenfranchisement and the nullification of the popular vote is a result of the Electoral College. Not the other way around. It is time to do away with this anti-democratic anachronism.

One person, one vote. No votes are more equal than others.

The role of how electoral votes are determined was left to each state. It has always been that way. That is why states have different ways of determining who gets what votes. Now Trumpers do not like it when states modify the way it counts its votes the way they want it ti be and, therefore, want federal intervention. Hypocrisy at its finest.

No, it's broken because some people can't accept that they lost. You guys really expected Her to win, and you're still in shock.

What else do you want to jettison that came from the 18th century? Free speech? Freedom of religion?

Oh wait, you guys do want to get rid of those.......

Minority left? There are more people registered as Democrats than as Republicans in this country

NYC, and L.A. should NOT dictate to the entire U.S. The Electoral College was put in place, and has remained for our entire existence as a Constitutional Republic. There is a good reason it is there, and if people want to get rid of it, they should move to amend the Constitution. The Constitution has been amended many times before. If enough people want it changed it can be changed legally.
You need to go back to math class, Greater NYC and Greater LA combined have only like 12% of the country's population

Why don't the other Democrat controlled states doing this, also give up one or both of their senate seats and let New York or California have them?

Actually many people had a problem with it when Hayes and W won the EC but lost the popular vote as well
