FWIW, just because he was arrested doesn't mean he'll be charged of a crime.
Once he gets his day in court and proves his narrative of self-defense, more than likely the charges will get dropped. This is what often happens in these situations.
Some folks are jumping to conclusions and making a mountain out of a mole hill.
After being behind the 8 ball recently on a bogus weapons charge the guy will have no choice but to lawyer up and he won't be getting those thousands of dollars back just like I didn't. I won but still got screwed all because the LE guy and DA wouldn't let it go even with plenty of evidence.

It seems pretty likely he can not lawyer up. He will have to get a public defender who will get him to plea to something.

I once pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge after the lawyer told me I could pay him 100 with a 800 fine or pay him 2k to get me off. You don’t come out ok when you are charged with a crime.

This is insane. They usually charge the getaway driver with the same crime as the other perpetrators. In this case, since two people died while she was committing her crime, she could be charged with murder. But they aren’t charging her with anything? Not even burglary?

A person who never committed a crime and now going to jail, having to spend a very limited fortune on a lawyer is not everyone's idea of a walk in the park. more like scared to near death and now broke.
Ho hum, nothing to it, for a prosecutor, lifetime of nightmares for the innocent victim.
Liberals...oh all he ahs to do is go to court.... yeah, right!
