The democrat party shuns Bernie Sanders, and I can't understand why.
The only perceivable "drawback" of Sanders is of his attachment to socialism, which might be a little too much for moderate democrats, to the extent that it's assumed that moderate democrats might sit at home on election day.
Be that as it may, that's the only "drawback" to a Sanders candidacy. On the flipside, the man is established, experienced, comes across as having a clean past, and, of all of the democratic candidates, it could be argued that Sanders is the most authentic - by far.
So...why has the democrat establishment kicked back on his candidacy?
That's not reason enough?
That and he's an old white male who cost Hillary the election and will probably get Trump reelected.....
He only became a democrat to run for POTUS. That is far easier than running as an independent. He didn't have to worry about ballot access. The Ds were nuts for allowing him on their ballot.
Sanders didn't provide floor leaders for his delegates to the Democratic National convention. The problem they created I believe it was intentional.
I also believe he is too far left. If the progressives nominate someone far left, they may as well vote for Donald Trump. There may be a bunch of young far left progressive, but there is also a bunch of old middle of the road lefties who know how to add.

I have zero respect for the bozo... zero. I think the Democrats are being majorly trolled by the guy, he is just using the party, playing like he above it all, avoiding paying the dues of party membership while getting all the benefits of being in party, and allowing him to run as a Democrat is being grossly unfair to the real Democratic candidates. It ticks me off, and I don’t even like the Democrat Party.

Thank you for your edifying posts. Okay...so Sanders is the Left's Pat Buchanan. Now it all makes sense...
As for Sanders being "too far Left," I agree with those voices who say that, in practice, his policies are no different than any other democrat. If anything, many see him as being more authentic than any other candidate, save Tulsi Gabbard.

A) there is no “Democrat” party.
B) Bernie’s not a Democrat.

I'm sorry...... what was the question?
Hillary cost the election herself. Stop blaming others for the epic failure of her campaign against the very beatable Trump. Losing the midwest to Trump? How's it even possible?
Regarding OP's question.
The answer is very simple. Sanders doesnt take bribe money from the ruling billionaire class and the corporate elite. This means the establishment would rather lose to Trump (who have the same big money donors) than win with Sanders. If Sanders wins, the establishment will lose alot of power over the party. If they lose to Trump, they are still firmly in charge.
A) there is no “Democrat” party.
B) Bernie’s not a Democrat.
In a two party duopoly that restricts voices and choices for the American people, a person who fights for the ordinary working man and woman simply has to run as a democrat given that other parties are effectively shut out from any power and influence. And the democratic party (and the GOP) is steeped in bribe money from the same ruling class that have destroyed large sections of the middle class in America. That is the reality.
bernie sanders is a crazy old white guy socialist, everything the democrat party loves, except the old white guy part. if sanders was black, or other minority, and female, and under 70, they would be loving him to no end.
The little communist curmudgeon is also a hypocrite that owns 3 homes and is already a millionaire. I wonder how many people that he supposedly cares so much about that he's supported with his own money and lets them live rent free in at least two of his homes? Why doesn't he feed and take care of their medical needs as well all on his dime? Surely he can afford to take care of at least two or three families? What say you Bernie? Put your money where your mouth is and lead by example.
The only reason that the Democrats are shunning the angry old curmudgeon is because his positions are unpalatable to a great many people. But make no mistake about it there is no difference policy wise between the two.

So he should commute from DC to Burlington Vermont in order to somehow prove a point?
The guy is the poorest out of all US senators. He could be very rich if he wanted to take bribe money from Wall Street and big pharma like the rest of Congress. He doesnt. Because he has integrity. A very rare breed.
I like Bernie and some of his ideas but if he doesn't want to be "shunned" by the Democrats made he should become one first.
Sure you do. Lots people like slavery.
Make not mistake. Socialism is a modern form of slavery.
