My family was being killed in Pogroms in Eastern Europe and by Hitler and his Nazis
I'm not paying reparations to someone who's family was in the US before mine!
That said, we are all better off living in the US than back in Europe, or Africa, today. Maybe reparations should be voluntary.....a one way ticket back to your ancestral home!
Well purchase your one-way ticket back to where you came from because my family just got here in the 1970s. Bye now!
Reparations should be limited to those personally in a town with such an event (Elaine massacre) that night in 1919, who suffered demonstrated losses.
Like a kid whose daddy was killed? A woman in North Carolina collected a civil war pension from her dad until 2016. Her dad married a woman 50 years younger, she was born and qualified for his pension of about 75 bucks a month.

If the kid was in Elaine in 1919 that night, certainly. If not, no.
Can you simply state what fields were your majors, where you lived (rural or urban regions), what the local unemployment rate was during the 5 years, etc.
Contrary to popular belief, those choices matter.
General Studies majors, even in 2019, often make fine baristas with huge student loan debt.
Its not really constructive for me to prove 30 years ago I exhausted every avenue for employment. It was the Reagan Recession and education jobs were tight. Colleges at that time had job placement services which I hit daily as well as the state run employment office. I got a break when a University Administrator told me if I enrolled in 1 hour of summer school the state would put me on work study, full time for minimum wage.I was happy to get it. I think that may be the connection between between youth crime in recessions. Educated people take low wage jobs usually reserved for unskilled people. It might be whats wrong with urban America.
Legislation introduced by Corey Booker would waste taxpayer money by studying the possibility of reparations, how they would be distributed, how they would be funded, etc.
Just so we’re clear here, we’re talking about forcing white people — who didn’t own slaves or participate in slavery — to pay trillions of dollars into a fund that will be split along African American beneficiaries, who were not slaves.
Sounds unconstitutional to me as well. Blacks and whites would no longer have "equal protection" of the laws.
Next of kin and estates have never received reparations. Only living victims.
I did read correctly! A 12 yo IS harmed, if she looses her mother based on a discriminatory act by the state. And you are wrong!
For example. I witnessed an estate get awarded damages from an airline, due to its negligence from a plane crash. Maybe we are playing on technicalities and words, damages and reparations....!

I think you are playing with technicalities. "Damages" are not the same thing as "reparations."
There are people in Europe with art the Nazis looted, where both aggrieved and aggressor parties are both STILL ALIVE, and yet in many cases the property has not been returned. Good luck sorting out reparations for something that happened 160 years ago at the latest.
