Did anyone notice the odd shift between the 1st paragraph and the others?
The 1st paragraph says "four black teenagers"
But the rest of the paragraphs state them as: "found the four children on the ground" and "The officer let the children stand up," and "two of the four children were wearing football jerseys."
Why the shift from "teens" to "children"?
Seems odd to me..
The same reason the portrayed Trayvon Martin as a young child rather as an adult. They seem more innocent when referred to as children. I'll bet there is more to this story than meets the eye.
But many justify over-reaction because of black crime statistics and what they see on the news. They just don't see blacks in the news or in statistics. Those stats add up to 50%-90% black crime, depends on whose telling it. If there's four kids who just happen to be black, that means at least 2 or 3 of those 4 kids are criminals.
So, if 3 out of 4 are seen as criminals, none of us should be surprised that one the greatest challenges they will face throughout their lives is not being able to market themselves or what they are selling as trustworthy.
Reality is that not 1/4 black people are going to jail for regular crimes let alone violent crimes, 3 or 2 in 4 is such a gross overestimate that itās basically useless. If we are talking about burglaries, robberies, drug dealers rather than shoplifting or drug using, the figure is probably somewhere like 1/20 or even less but still way too high.
That kind of sucks. I ALWAYS contribute to any kid who has the motivation to get out there and collect for their sport/organization. It is pretty damn sad that those boys were out there and busting their butts for their team, only to have some loony pull a gun on them. It sounds like the boys had football jerseys on for their team; we have had kids from the local highschools do the same thing. Some of the kids are white, some are black, but it is pretty clear they are kids on the highschool team.
Perhaps there are some mental health issues at the root of this problem, as I cannot imagine a scenario otherwise that would result in this end.

I can usually smell a rat in these situations that don't add up.
In this case, the kids had their jerseys on and were out fund raising for their team. If one was up to no good, you would not do so:
a. during the day
b. wearing your highschool jersey
c. go unarmed or without means to handle such a situation
It seems like it was someone who was a little off their rocker just doing something crazy. The only time you pull a gun you better be prepared to shoot, and that is only in a situation in which your life, or that of a family member, is threatened.
If you don't want to donate- just don't. We live in a gated community in which we NEVER get solicitors of any form. However, we do get the highschool or junior high kids out fundraising for something or another. For Christ's sake- if a kid is willing to get out there and work for their group, give them some cash. Some of the kids from lower income areas specifically come to our neighborhood, as they know we will fork over cash. I think that is just being smart, as they know it is going to be higher yield for their efforts.
Honestly, this does sound she could have been racially-motivated! However, I am wording in that way because what one person may see as a racist act might not actually be a racist act!
Isn't the fact the media are publicizing this kind of . . . racist? As in EXTREMELY racist?
They don't publicize every instance of black-on-white crime. This is simply part of the effort to create a false narrative casting blacks as victims and whites as victimizers.
I live literally 100 feet from the high school's football practice facility, and I'm used to an annual visit from football players (75% of the time black) selling cards offering discounts at local businesses. I know what's going on, I chat with them because I like football and because I just like learning about people, and one year I even saw the kids later and gave them a ride home. But there's a reason that this woman is national news and my story and the stories of white crime victims aren't, and that reason is that the mainstream media hate white people, and the media are millions of times more powerful than this woman.
So, to me, the real significance of this story -- and the dangerous racist aspect -- is the way this incident is reported.

One way of looking at it: a 15-year-old is still a kid or child compared to an 18-year-old. Thus, these 4 young Blacks can both "children" and "teens".
