I've posted it once in this thread already:

https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2...-goes-to-china

Again, its a little older but I don't know that there is a real reason to thin these numbers have changed five-fold or anything like that.

It feels like everything we buy comes from China. In fact, less than 3 percent of personal spending in the U.S. goes to China, according to a new report from the SF Fed.

That's partly because most personal spending goes to things like health care and housing that are, by definition, produced in the U.S.

But even when you look at the "goods" category, Americans spend way more on stuff that's made in the U.S. than on stuff that's made in China.

For the big-ticket items in the durable goods category (cars, furniture, etc.), about two thirds of personal spending goes to stuff made in the U.S. Just over 10 percent goes to China.

For smaller stuff — food, clothes, gas, etc. — 76 percent of personal spending goes to goods made in the U.S., and 6 percent goes to goods made in China.

I’ve worked several places and it’s the same thing I’m a realist not delusional, sorry you being played if you think every nut and bolt in said product is made here.

I make one hell of an effort to know where what I buy comes from. If I can’t find out, suddenly my need for it wanes.

According to the bank’s analysts, the cost of the U.S.-China trade war borne by consumers is likely to rise from around $600 per year — based on the first two “phases” of the tariffs on Chinese imports — to around $1,000, based on the third round of tariffs.

Boo Hoo...

Now we can talk about how much the average family lost when all those jobs went to China in the first place.

Every nut and bolt in what? A chisel? A wrench? A piece of lumber?

I'm talking about FTC law. No clue what you're talking about at this point.

Take another look at your chart. The level of CPI went from about 95 to almost 110, a bigger increase than in 2018. If you can look at this chart and see no upward movement 2011-2012 in CPI then you are proving your dishonesty.

The two events are not at the same point, genius.

And even if they were (which they’re most certainly not), how does that prove the basic fundamentals of tariffs incorrect? For all you know it could be the result of.....tariffs......

The ONLY way to know for sure is to take apart said thingy and track each part down to its origin. Good luck with that. Now if you don’t care where the rubber grommets, screws, thread, etc comes from because the biggest part of said item is made here. Then carry on.

I worked a job a while back they shipped out screws, grommets , washers, etc all made in, China, Mexico, etc.
And you had a few made here too. Let’s say you have a water pump for a fire truck. The PUMP is made here but all those things I mentioned above are made in other countries. If you don’t care about those little parts I aforementioned then that’s great. But it’s insane to think that every little piece comes from here.
