doubt the validity of any poll where NJ is healthier than Colorado.

all depends on the criteria, the criteria listed does not match the description of a healthy state.

oh it is someone idea of valid criteria but very subjective.

theoretically CO, CA, MN based on climate, weather, time spent on outdoor activities and open space would top the list of criteria for a state with the most potential for healthier living.

right a murder a month since the 60s and upped to two plus a week under corey booker.

Newark NK 26 sq miles.... The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in Newark is 1 in 29.

2018
Two New Jersey cities are among the "Murder Capitals of America." One was listed third nationwide, ahead of Detroit and Baltimore.

'We felt as if a small place with 2,500 people and two murders makes it a lot more dangerous than a city of 25,000 people with one murder.'

LA 52K sq miles
NJ 8.7K sq miles

2019 Nj pop 8.92 million
2109 LA pop 4.9 million

LA 2019 554 murders/manslaughter

NJ 2019 372 murders and manslaughter

Louisiana has more large cities than NJ. these are where the clusters of murders take place.

372 vs 554 = difference is 222 more killed in LA.

NJ is doing nothing right despite strict gun laws

Shouldn't this be good news for liberals? This means that conservatives will start dying off and dying young. The bad news for liberals is that they will now have to have sex with women in order to advance the human race.

I'm a liberal woman and I am not going to start having sex with women. Just couldn't let you get away with your lunacy in thinking all liberals are men. Are all conservatives women? And of course, liberals will be really happy to see the conservatives dying young. Not. An senseless reply to a senseless comment. Now, can we proceed?

Let's repeat that so it sinks in: California is the healthiest state in the US.

The ranking is from US News & World Report - the same entity so many conservatives liked to point out that California had the lowest quality of life.

The 10 Healthiest States
1. California
2. New York
3. New Jersey
4. Hawaii
5. Massachusetts
6. Connecticut
7. Minnesota
8. Colorado
9. Washington
10. Utah
Wow who knew inner city tent living , no running water, & street defecating /urinating could be so healthy .
What ? Only " wealthy white liberals of privilege " were included for the purposes of the survey ?
Never mind .

You are what you eat. A Southern Diet stands alone. Very unhealthy. Deep fried foods, Sausage, Gravy, and Biscuits for Breakfast? Yes, too much pasta can also make your fat but if you don't lather on cream sauces and cheese, it will not have the same effects on your health. Raised in an Italian family. What I ate as a kid you will never see on an Olive Garden Menu; like Dandelion Greens and Chici Bean soup???????

Yes, NYC has mass transit, BUT do you want to stand around for 20 minutes waiting for a bus or train when you can get to your destination faster by walking? Burning up any and all calories from what you ate. Exercise is not only working out at a gym.

Maybe NY does not have as healthy food attitudes as California, but getting there.

Much of the criteria for that list is a joke. Now, California may very well be the "healthiest state" in the union, but get us a list that's based on completely serious and relevant factors. Seriously, "adults reporting poor mental health?" While mental health goes to overall health, its the self reporting here that is the issue.

Mortality rate? Needs to be broken down further or those figures are meaningless. Indeed, I'd expect a state like Florida--where a lot of people go to retire (and in their old age) to have a higher mortality rate than some other states in colder parts of the country.
