We're getting off topic here, but I think I know what he's referring to. A highly modified car can get seriously reduced gas mileage. I have a Camaro that is highly modified, I get 11mpg city it was getting 15-16 when still stock.

I don't quite understand his math on how gas going back to 2.90 would change his decision.

Amazon built a 80,000 sq ft warehouse in my town that was slated to open last year - it's still not open.

It was to have all electric vehicles - and the local grid at this time can't handle it.

I do agree that's more expensive than most people can afford, but there are a lot of Americans buying cars they already can't afford anyways.
An EV car cannot be as functional as a truck or an SUV.

It can be for people who do not need the extra functionality of an SUV or Truck and buy them only for status.

Don't offer what you might think is a crazy idea up, I've found the stupider and more sarcastic my offers are to me, the more likely it is to be adopted.

EVs don’t appeal to me at all, but to be fair, there’s a lot of people who would be paying $50k for a new car anyway. I don’t think his math adds up terribly well - I actually think the fuel savings would be more than $80/mo. It’s not a terrible move if you’re in the market anyway, provided there’s an EV which appeals to you.

They’re buying a lot more used cars than new cars. I will never buy a new car or truck again. It loses value the minute you drive it off the dealers lot. Better to buy a used one that still under warranty. Or even one that isn’t under warranty.

When the airlines all go EV I may start thinking about it.

You cannot do things like moving furniture and such in a car.

What a boob.
keep in mind, this is the eggplant who insists that spending trillions of dollars in no way contributes to inflation, since those trillions are 'already paid for'

That’s fair. Most people riding around in trucks or SUVs would be better served by a car anyway. And a minivan trumps them all unless you tow. But that’s a separate discussion from whether an EV of any kind is suitable for anybody.
