Wow! Buy a $50,000 - $60,000 EV and save $80 a month!!!

From the article: "The president blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for the spike in gas prices as well as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

He spoke at length about his green energy subsidy plans currently awaiting support from Congress.

“Under my plan, which is before the Congress now, we can take advantage of the next generation of electric vehicles, that a typical driver will save about $80 a month from not having to pay gas at the pump,” Biden boasted.
"

First of all, how do you "pay gas at the pump"?

Second of all, how does paying $50,000 - $60,000 to save $80 a month make ANY financial sense? I guess it's this kind of thinking that has us $30,000,000,000,000 in debt.

At $80/month, your break-even point is 750 months.

What a boob.

Save 80 a month but pay extra 1000 a month in car payments and insurance. Along with the contractor payment plan to install a charger.

If you can even get a contractor these days. I heard they're hard to come by.

In the same light....the NY Times had an article on people being fed up with PG&E in California and the power outages and going "off-grid".

Their poster child was a BIG TECH executive working remotely that spent MORE THAN 300,000 dollars and sounds like close to half a million.

Being the party of the RICH, makes the Democrats think all sorts of crazy things make sense.

You can't blame him, the Left has always been financially illiterate.

Their entire platform depends on it.

most of these EV’s (especially tesla) will be inoperable in 10-15 years and sitting in salvage yards

Yeah, when the wind blows too hard in CA, PG&E sends out alerts about shutting the power off and often times they do. On hot days, they send out alerts to conserve power and only run AC at night.
Brown outs are common during the summer. Can't wait to see what will happen when millions of EV's are sucking electricity off the power grid every single day all day long.

I think I will stick to our paid off vehicle, it saves me a payment which would be around 1000 to save 80.00 . Wow what a deal,…unfortunately I am not a democrat , I prefer to not save 80.00, and be in debt 920 a month for an electric vehicle. I will just watch when I go out and combine trips,
