Quotes from the language of today's Supreme Court's Syllabus and Decision regarding "abortion rights"
Held: The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives. Pp. 8–79.(a)
The critical question is whether the Constitution, properly understood, confers a right to obtain an abortion.
The Constitution confers no rights whatsoever. It does detail what a person's civil liberties are vis a vis the government acting against them in a criminal or civil proceeding, but beyond that, no right is conferred by the Constitution.
Rather, the Constitution ASSUMES the People and the States have rights far too numerous to list, so they don't bother and gave us the 9th and 10th Amendments. The 1st-5th Amendments are not grantors of rights. Nope, those were just added because during the writing/ratifying process, those were natural individual rights that were so commonly abused by tyrants, they figured they'd list them explicitly.
Hamilton's objections about the possible mischief caused from specifically mentioning certain rights, thus giving the government a flanking way to weasel themselves some tyranny by saying ONLY those rights are protected because only those were listed, are why we have the 9th and 10th Amendments. You are assumed to have literally countless natural rights that the Constitution says the federal (and state) governments cannot take away.

I know. While the constitution doesn't say it the Declaration of Independance gives a right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
So a "right to life" Is on far firmer grounds than the made up "right to privacy".
Are you prepared to pitch in to take care of all these extra babies? Taxes will go up to cover a host of welfare programs.
Do we have enough baby formula for all these new babies? I wonder.
I'm not prepared to use decreased social programs as a justification for murder. That could be used in some pretty unpleasant ways. Those things need to be addressed separately and not be solved with a blanket "If we murdered people, there would be less people to deal with" approach.
In the other opinion today, all the liberals voted with a few conservatives to allow HHS to shortchange hospitals that care for mostly indigent and Medicare patients
Funny...that has been the complaint from the Right about the Supreme Court for the past 50 years . You have to hand it to them...they organized and galvanized their voters until they got the Supreme Court they wanted. Thee GOP has used the SC is a GOTV mechanism for years. But as they say...be careful for what you wish for....The Left can implement the same strategy. The Supreme Court has a right to their rulings based on the current makeup of the court...them's the rules. My own opinion is that the recent rulings especially on Roe is an overshoot. This will galvanize the liberal base for years to come. It will be an interesting midterm.
anything can happen,, whomever is in power can decide if the Supreme Court has 9 justices or 15 or 20. there is no law on the limit.
By next week, when nothing has changed in virtually all 50 states, everyone can then understand that all the SCOTUS did was give power back to the states via the 10th Amendment, and the states are still run by cowardly politicians who seek reelection.
I doubt very much changes with abortion law, minus a tweak here and there.
A lot has already changed in many states. Did you forget about the trigger laws that went into affect this morning when the SC announced their decision on Roe v Wade? Then there are the states that left their old abortion restriction laws on the books after Roe was decided. Those laws have all bounced back into existence too. Yes, a lot has changed this morning.
