Absentee ballot drop boxes won't be allowed in Wisconsin under a ruling handed down Friday by a divided Wisconsin Supreme Court.

The court's conservative majority also ruled that it's illegal for someone else, like a spouse or roommate, to return a voter's completed absentee ballot to the clerk's office, meaning the voter must carry out that task personally.

The majority decision was written by Justice Rebecca Bradley and joined by the rest of the court's conservative majority, including swing Justice Brian Hagedorn.

A momentous ruling for voting integrity and the rule of law out of Wisconsin today!

Just fantastic!

That’s horrible news about my home state. It’s really taken a turn for the worse in the past 30 years. So people with severe disabilities need to return their ballot themselves? Voter suppression at it’s finest. Ugh!!

What is fantastic about it someone has to drive their ballot to the office or mail it in all that is going to do is make the voter more annoyed. I don't get why right continues to attempt to restrict voting when you need votes to win.

The court ruled that under the law a dropbox could not be considered a mailbox. It did not find that any fraud had occurred in the decades the dropboxes had been in use.

The ruling was more for legislative accuracy than voter integrity.

Correct. What it means is that Democrats in deep blue jurisdictions like Milwaukee and Dane County can't unilaterally change election laws to favor Democrats. As they did over and over and over again in 2020.

Didn't even read the Opinion, did we?

It says that people voting by absentee ballot must either mail it to the Country Clerk's office or bring it in personally.

Read. Reading is good.

And try not to become completely hysterical (as you did here) before at least TRYING to read the decision. Or get someone to read it to you.

The bi-partisan WI elections Commission was created by the GOP-majority state legislature and former Governor Walker.

Mr. Trump’s campaign and his supporters filed an array of lawsuits seeking to invalidate votes cast in drop boxes because the method of returning ballots was not explicitly permitted under state law — though it was authorized by the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

TRANSLATION: The court didn't address that issue in its conclusion.

But it did point out:
The record indicates hundreds of ballot drop boxes have been set up in past elections, prompted by the memos, and thousands of votes have been cast via this unlawful method, thereby directly harming the Wisconsin voters. The illegality of these drop boxes weakens the people's faith that the election produced an outcome reflective of their will. The Wisconsin voters, and all lawful voters, are injured when the institution charged with administering Wisconsin elections does not follow the law, leaving the results in question.

As part of its justification for its ruling today, the Wisconsin Supreme Court also used language questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 election results, and compared the 2020 election in Wisconsin to elections in North Korea and Syria:
