Each bullet is considered a post-asset-seizure treatment in case of any complaint. Think of them as "pills" for the sick.
Thing is, if what they are stockpiling for were to actually happen, no amount of bullets will save them. Not even 350,000,000 round of ammunition. Not even ICBMs with IRS written on the side. The French aristocracy learned that the hard way in the latter part of the eighteenth century.

Newsflash - the IRS, the FDA and a lot of other government agencies have law enforcement components and responsibilities.
Surely you're not saying LEOs should be disarmed, OP?
There is a difference between local police and political paramilitary police, just as there was a difference between a village constable and the SS in Nazi Germany.
Me wonders if the socialists are simply filling any empty container, ie the IRS, with ammo to keep the supply of reloading components scare on the open market. Assault weapons for me and not for thee!
Like stashing cash in various cubbys throughout your house.

So, you're advocating for some LEOs to be disarmed?
They're not accountants, they're law enforcement officers. All federal agencies have law enforcement personnel: Special Agents (non-uniformed) and uniformed. Without an enforcement branch, the IRS would be powerless. The debate regarding whether on not the IRS is needed isn't germane to this discussion. As long as the IRS exists and is responsible for collecting taxes, they need investigative/enforcement personnel.
You didnt answer my question, but I’ll bite on yours:
Voluntary contributions and the elimination of any “operation” that lacks the resources to continue
I don't need to rationalize math. The discussion isn't whether or not the IRS should exist or even whether or not the government has the right to collect taxes. The question was why the IRS needs 5,000,000 rounds of ammunition. I explained that clearly enough for a child to understand. I'm sorry if simple math exceeds your cognitive capacity.
And now the Democrats are going to double the size of the IRS with their latest tax and spend boondoggle. With all of the left wing lies about an "insurrection" and "domestic terrorism," you have to wonder if the totalitarian Marxists aren't planning a pogrom against dissidents (Republicans).
According to a Government Accountability Office report, in 2018, there were 2,148 law enforcement officers working for the IRS’s Criminal Investigation Division. They were armed with 4,461 weapons, including 15 fully automatic weapons and more than 5 million rounds of ammunition.
And further analysis --- on average the IRS spends 675,000 a year on ammunition --- since as far back as 2010 if not further and right up until 2022.
Seems this is nothing new. But it is being represented as an anomaly with this govt. Why is it not a concern in 2020 and it is a concern in 2022.
I will say -- another thread with misleading information, implying this is some kind of new radical federal policy when it isn't. It takes a moment to check these stories.

We all know why, some just like to feign ignorance.
