I think these stores have some solutions that you will see implemented shortly.

Within the last few days, one of the cable channels announced that an employee in his mid 60s (Home Depot) had died from his injuries from a thief. They showed the video....a guy in a mask rolling out a pallet full of stuff....and the employee walked towards him and the guy shoved him back hard. The employee fell back, and appeared to hit his head on the edge of planter.

Steel doors with small bulletproof glass windows. Think the old tv show "get smart". :d

If these are the measures that you're suggesting, then instead of talking explicitly about Wal-Mart, we need talk about this. We have societal problems, that have existed for quite some time.

That would make for great entertainment with all eyes on the criminal and police being called, while crying they’re innocent and trying to get away

The payout for being falsely accused of shoplifting averaged about ten thousand dollars per incident. Some people caught on and were faking being a shoplifter to get a payday. Stores changed policy when they caught on.

It would be great until everybody in the store realized they were trapped with the rest of the perp's armed crew, and then you would have a hostage situation.

In reality, we need a culture of honesty, integrity, and good manners. Once your culture decays into selfishness and "me first", you are screwed. Laws don't work. Doors don't work. You end up in a feudal situation where the rich hunker down behind walls protected by armed guards, you carry a gun everywhere you go, might makes right and it is every man for himself.

That is where we are headed and I don't see a way out unless we can change the culture back to what we had in the 70s or 60s.

Oh,..so this is why , despite not needing to be in the cashier employee line,
I still needed to wait for an employee to come remove the security tag off the small bag of Tide Pods I wanted for laundry at the CVS "Self-Check-out".

Illegal. Store could be guilty of kidnapping, could cost them millions.
Also, very dangerous in case of fire, tornado, earthquake, etc.

Unusual candor from Doug McMillon. After all, this is the man that completely bent the knee to BLM, made hundreds of his senior leaders take Critical Race Theory based training during the pandemic, and spent millions of dollars to renovate a BLM looted Chicago store that should have been permanently closed.

Your humor meter needs calibrating and I should have used an emoji to convey that I was joking/half-joking/dreaming.
