Look forward to this being overturned

Illinois is broke, people are leaving droves and they're going to ban something that will make no difference in its horrible crime stats

Thanks, governator who looks a lot like a mobster. This will make Ill-annoy much safer. Because of course the bad guys always check the latest gun laws.

It's a ban on sale or possession of semi-automatic weapons, 9th state to pass this bill.

When I see bans like this, it really makes me wonder, is it really to lower the violence, which in most cases, it won't, or is it to disarm the law abiding, generally the only ones that will follow the law ?

I wouldn't be surprised when the violence in the cities continues, they propose to ban the next thing...handguns. Just look what our friends to the North did, a complete ban on all new handguns.

Things are starting to get a touch scary when our elected officials are starting to restrict how we can defend ourselves.

too bad the gun nuts in Chicago and the inner cities won’t care about the ban. i guess jokes on the law abiding, as usual. but government “did something” so it’s the thought that matters

Here is a summary of what is in the law. It's grossly unconstitutional, so nobody should lose too much sleep, it's just grandstanding.

https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/lo...e-61bf11b01e18

A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine or that may be readily modified to accept a detachable magazine, if the firearm has one or more of the following:
-a threaded barrel;
-etc.

Here is one of the "assault weapons", a .22 calibre pistol.

It's really more of an illegal gun registration bill with bans on future purchases but again, moot, unconstitutional.

They didn't do anything that will stick and they know it. But it will allow them to say they tried but the mean old supreme court (or whatever) blocked the law.

Having looked over the list of changes, this is one of the most egregious unconstitutional I've seen. It's almost laughable like they just gave up at some point knowing it won't pass so they just loaded it up with more garbage lol.
