Wokeism is being pushed very hard by a small minority of extreme radical Leftists, that are determined to destroy American values.
Not the values. America itself.

"Disney’s streaming services are the main reason for the changes, with high costs driving down profits and activist investor battles threatening the board"

yes, millions dropped their woke streaming service. not sure why you think this is some kinda save..

Disney Plus lost 2.4 million subscribers in the three months ended Dec. 31, Disney said Wednesday, as the subscriber base of its flagship streaming service fell for the first time since the company launched it in 2019.

That wasn't because of wokeness, it was after they raised prices. They actually lost less than was expected:

While Disney’s streaming services, which include ESPN+ and Hulu, had a 13% increase in revenue, they’re operating at a loss of $1.1bn. Last quarter, it was $1.5bn.

One of the headlines was a 2.4m subscriber loss after Disney increased the prices of its streaming platform, Disney+.
It was the first time Disney+ had lost subscribers since its launch in 2019. This still beat analyst estimates, who were touting the expected loss at over 3m.

And many streaming services lost subscribers, after the pandemic. You can see above, that last quarter Disney streaming grew 13%. Just their operating costs are high.

"In the streaming industry, Warner Bros and Netflix have both made job cuts in the last 12 months as they struggled to remain profitable amidst a hardening economic climate."

No matter how you cut it, no matter how badly you want to believe it, there is no indication that Disneys supposed wokeness has hurt it's bottom line. If it were due to wokeness and people not wanting to do business with Disney, the parks would feel it first, and they aren't feeling it at all.

The layoffs announcement came minutes after its quarterly earnings were posted, which revealed strong growth in the Disney theme parks but a sluggish period for its TV and direct-to-consumer (streaming) services.

Disney made more money last year than expected. They want to cut $2.5B in sales and general admin expenses. The also want to cut $3B in reducing non-sports content (i.e. no touching ESPN), that's where the 7000 people worked.

In 2020 they laid off 32,000. mostly park workers.

Did Disney executives cause Discovery and Netflix to lose money and layoff people?

Florida, Desantis, Disney execs had nothing to do with the losses. It's a macro trend affecting all streaming services
Woke = broke

Just look at the finances of Bond ratings for most of the Blue cities/states.

...just a matter of time. And yes, Disney leadership is where the buck stops on all of these setbacks...at all of their subsidiaries.

Are you defending woke? Is Disney right to indoctrinate little children w/ their sexual & racial programming?

Don't deflect, don't be shy, if you support wokeism, just say so.

I'd post 100+ articles that say otherwise, but none are leftist rags, so why bother.

We dont believe your media, and you dont believe ours.

So..now what? All we have left are bond ratings and financial statements of Lib cities, states, and companies.

...it ain't pretty

Yeah, that's capitalism for you. But if Iger doesn't get at least $50 million in compensation, the talking heads might start to really fret about the company's direction.

Collateral damage. We are all getting it from the Left, in some manner or other. For some it is directly or indirectly financial. For others, it is loss of freedom or culture. Still others, it is loss of physical or mental health.

The employees don't deserve it, but neither do the rest of us, like all the Californians who will want to buy a gas powered car in 2036, or own a new home without solar panels. How about all the parents who don't want their children getting Leftist indoctrination in schools. I would rather get laid off than have a child who is brainwashed into woke culture.

We are all being impacted by Leftist politicies.

It is capitalism. Pure capitalism in its best, most fundamental form.

Capitalism is superb at matching products and services to consumers. When companies stop offering products that customers want, they go bust and are replaced with new companies that do. Disney is pushing an agenda rather than providing products the majority of its customer base wants to consume, and they are leaving as a result.

As it should be.

All Disney has to do is go back to basics and stop pushing a woke agenda. Most people would come back. People want fun, not politics.

Default Disney heir

One of the heirs to the Disney fortune, and probably a leading force in the new "woke" Disney is transgender. Gives thought to why Disney has taken this direction.

It has nothing to do with leftism! I am the only one who posted any links backing up my claims that it had nothing to do with wokeism, why don’t you post some data that show otherwise?
