Disney just let go of 7,000 employees because of mismanagement at the top.

The further left the Execs went, the worse their financials became, & now everyday workers take the bullet.

They lost their special land designation in Florida by attacking Florida residents & Governor DeSantis when they stopped sex ed for K-3.

Florida residents backed DeSantis by huge margins, and Disney lost special tax treatments, & self-governing privileges.

This is the type accountability we need more of...nationally to fight woke socialist indocrination of our youth.

Somewhere on this forum is my thread predicting tumbleweeds rolling silently down the streets of Disney's Main Street U.S.A...........

May be a couple of years. May be a couple of decades.

It was wonderful while it lasted.

The 7,000 w/o a job don't see any humor in any of this, and it wasnt their fault at all.

Anyone with compassion will feel for these families.

I stopped going to Disney when they started charging extra for parking at on-property resorts. That and the kids outgrew it.

Turn it back to farmland, I say.

After The Beatles special about 15 months ago, I cancelled Disney+ because the new Star Wars series suck and there ain’t nothin’ else worth watchin’.

Disney is a company in decline. I doubt they'll turn things around. Wokeism is a cancer that destroys all it invades....unless people fight it back really hard every waking moment of every day. Most remain complacent about it until its too late....just ask the 7,000 who lost theri jobs this week.

Wokeism is being pushed very hard by a small minority of extreme radical Leftists, that are determined to destroy American values.

I have not had any Disney service for 10+ years, & while I keep unsubscribing from every email solicitation I get from them, they keep sending more anyways....further alienating me. It shows how desperate they have become.

I'll never go to any Disney park, or entertainment venue, or watch any of theri programming, until they eradicate wokeism totally, & publicly reject it.

Well at least you had one fact in your vomit of conjecture. 7000 people were laid off. 3.6% of workforce.

Disney made more money last year than expected. They want to cut $2.5B in sales and general admin expenses. The also want to cut $3B in reducing non-sports content (i.e. no touching ESPN), that's where the 7000 people worked.

In 2020 they laid off 32,000. mostly park workers.

Did Disney executives cause Discovery and Netflix to lose money and layoff people?

Florida, Desantis, Disney execs had nothing to do with the losses. It's a macro trend affecting all streaming services

Disney is laying off 7,000 employees because their streaming services aren`t doing well. That`s 3.6% of their Global workforce. The article says nothing about woke, whatever that is.

And I remember reading a story some time back that streaming services in Asia was a HUGE target for the previous leadership (i.e. Chapek) and it was losing money.

I think we are seeing significant changes in Disney due largely in part on the return of Iger.

It's not going to happen, IMO. I don't think the parks are hurting at all, and the parks are not where the layoffs are occurring. They are as busy as ever. I don't know why people assumed it was the parks, when Disney has branched out into many other areas. I can't find anything to indicate layoffs at the parks. They are probably what's keeping them going. The 7000 is 3% of its' workforce.

"Disney’s streaming services are the main reason for the changes, with high costs driving down profits and activist investor battles threatening the board"
