The police had the suspect and let him go.

Our legal system only prosecute those who have money in the bank. Be poor, very poor and you'll get out of jail for every crime as long as you didn't kill someone.

Those blows look pretty painful. She took it way better than expected, didn't even seem like she winced.

It's not her fault that the assailant attacked her. But it IS her fault that she put herself into such a vulnerable position that enabled the assailant to attack her. The assailant should go to jail. But the victim should think long and hard about some of her life choices, such as the ones that put her in the subway at 3:30 in the morning.
so if a girl dresses a little sexy and goes to a frat party, she deserves to get raped and should think long and hard about some of her life choices?

“I was trying to get my walker up the steps, and this man was coming down and he was like, ‘Move bi–h, get out of the way,'†she recalled.

“He really started cursing at me,†she said. “Then he pushed me down and hit me with the cane and knocked me down … he took my walker and he beat me.

“I’m trying to get him off me, because he’s hitting me and he’s beating me with this cane and he’s beating me really hard and everything,†she continued. “He hit me in my head and everywhere and all over. It was nothing I could do.â€

Reynolds said the cops, when they arrived, didn’t do much to rectify the situation.
That guy is human refuse.

The article is both sad and funny to read in 2023.

But by all means I'm constantly told that it's all because of Covid and that because the departments weren't actually defunded that no other changes to policing, sentencing, plea deals, failure to prosecute etc. had any impact on crime.

I saw this on "The Five" last night and it looked like the attacker was White and hitting a Black woman but since it is Black on Black crime this sad ugly scene won't get much attention.

Wasn't there anyone else there to help that lady? Who was doing the filming?

She is lucky that she wasn't more seriously injured.

The real crime is that if the guy is tracked down and arrested nothing will happen to him in the Loony Liberal Land of NYC.

The guy is lucky that his victim was only a 60 year old Black woman and not an Illegal Alien because the Elected would order the Police to track him down and make an example of him in a televised court.

Did I say that the woman deserved to get beaten? No, I did not. I said that she should have avoided putting herself into a situation that is widely known to be dangerous. And I would advise a young woman to avoid dressing a little sexy and going to a frat party, for the same reason. If she does it anyway and ends up being raped, she didn't deserve it. But she should have been more discerning in her choice of outfit and entertainment medium.

Why is it so shocking to actually say that people need to take personal responsibility for themselves? In a perfect world, one should be able to attend a frat party or ride the subway at 3:30 in the morning and have nothing bad happen to them. But we don't live in a perfect world. Rapists and muggers need to pay for their crimes with jail time and other suitable punishments. But the rest of us need to be more discerning in our choices.

I don't get the point tbh. If you knew the old lady, maybe you could communicate this personally.

Also, your standards for what is safe/unsafe, good judgement/bad judgement are completely arbitrary. You say going and riding the subway at 3:30am is unsafe, maybe someone will say riding the subway at any time is unsafe, and so when you're robbed at 5pm on the subway, they will wag their fingers and say you need more personal responsibility.

In reality, we need to make it safe for old ladies to go on the subway at 3:30am. NYC and Democratic leadership is failing their residents yet again.
