What is most amazing about this is how tone-deaf Trump is to his base on pandemic policies. They hated the shutdowns and the mandates, both for masking and vaccines, although as Trump says, the vaccine mandates came under Joe Biden. Why not just admit he made mistakes on lockdowns and mask mandates? Trump is correct in noting that no one really knew what COVID-19 would do when it first hit, and it would be easy to say, “Look, we erred but we erred on the side of caution. We learned a lesson from it, and we won’t ever let the scientists make the political decisions again.”

Instead, Trump wants credit for the COVID policies while pushing the blame for his own mistakes onto others, especially DeSantis. There is literally nothing from Trump, in this interview especially, that would lead anyone to believe that he’d do a single thing differently. That’s the problem with someone who refuses to admit error; they never change, and they never learn.

He's delusional. His COVID response, listening to the politically-motivated liars at the CDC and NIH, is disqualifying to me. At least for the primary.

I would really prefer not to have to vote for him again in a general election. We need someone like Ron DeSantis or even Haley or Scott.

Totally agree, and I say this as someone who supported President Trump in 2016 and 2020. Why not just admit that there were some mistakes with the response, and mention that they won’t ever happen again should he become President again.

I mean, he’s still much better than any Democrat, but I’d prefer to have the opportunity to vote for some other Republican this time around. Voting for Joe Biden (lol) is not an option - I care too much about our country to do that.

His outright lying on the topic is disturbing to me as well. Trying to claim Ron DeSantis was the problem with responding to COVID is downright insulting. I live in Florida, and DeSantis did a fantastic job DESPITE Trump and his administration.

If Trump thinks anyone is going to buy his version of what happened with COVID, he's as senile as Joe Biden.

Wow, so Trump doesn't remember giving Fauci a presidential commendation? Sounds like he's losing it mentally.

Great is the wrong word. I guess he did OK. Most of the C19 problems were MSM excessively inflating the issues, Dems states giving him the finger, and most of us believing it would be like SARS.

I think he knows damn well who gave Fauci the award. It's a case of selective memory.

Otherwise known as outright lying. Or dementia. Either way...
