i'm far more sympathetic to the plight of venezuelans than most other 'migrants'. i doubt many of them have anything nice to say about the leftist hero oogo chavez. still, we're full up. go somewhere else.
They are going to other places too, like Panama and Colombia. As a matter of fact Colombia has more than any other country with 2.9 million Venezuelans. It makes sense since its next door, and they speak Spanish. Peru has also accepted over half a million applications, on top of the ones they have already taken in.
Well it didn’t come into fruition because the US has a hobby of sabotaging socialist nations in Latin America and propping up puppet dictatorships.
And if they don’t fund coups, they put embargo’s and sanctions to punish said nations for refusing to let thr U.S seize their resources.

The ones with money and education came to Florida and live in places like Westonzuela.....I mean Weston. I suppose the newcomers are not as wealthy as those who left early on.
We have more Venezuelans in Florida, especially South FL, than the rest of the US combined, but I dont hear people complain. They fit in.
As for them working, - yes they should work as opposed to sit around and do nothing.

i knew several in the midwest that moved here early, long before things really started going downhill. they seem to have similar perspectives as most cubans on the joys of socialism.
That is exactly the problem, our laws allow them to seek asylum if they are able to demonstrate they were persecuted because of:
Race
Religion
Nationality
Social group
Political opinion
Our legal process to reach a decision takes years and if people want change then they need to hold congress accountable for either changing the law or adding additional resources to expedite a decision.
Meanwhile, is it better to have them sit around at our expense or working.
Only a very small percentage of these so-called migrants have a viable asylum claim. What congress needs to change is that they need to be made to wait outside of our country until their claims can be verified. If they enter our country illegally and then claim asylum that needs to be stopped to and they need to be denied and deported. Another thing is that we need a cap on viable asylum claimants. We cannot be the saviors to the whole world. It's already impacting our own citizens negatively and it's getting worse.
We don't need them siting around at our expense or working here while waiting for their court hearing. They need to wait outside of our country. They are supposed to take refuge in the first country they pass through and even though Mexico has offered it along with jobs they are refusing it. What does that tell you?
Temporary in legalese only.......in a practical sense, they are here for good.

Unless we get DT or someone like him as POTUS who puts an end to this "temporary" BS program.
DT tried but was too naïve on how to get it done and thus was over turned via courts. Had he won a second term things likely would have been vastly different.

The Census Bureau is reporting a 0.4% population increase and in 2021 they reported slow growth of 0.1%, saying slowest rate since the founding of this nation.
Do we not want Biden to give them legal work permits? Do we not want the government to tax their earnings? Do we not want them buying goods and services, which will pay into State taxes? And God forbid the stay here five years which would make them eligible for citizenship.
Has anyone realized what anti-immigration advocates winning would actually mean, for this country? If you haven't yet, I'm thinking you may catch on soon.
