We can always take children away from mothers that cannot feed them, and put them in boarding schools that are sex segregated. This may break the cycle. But is it morally ethical
My paternal grandmother was a single mother and voluntarily put my father in a home during the Great Depression for that very reason. When she got situated job wise, she took him out. He was in there for a year or two.
We need to answer the question - why do women end up single mothers? Once we know the main reason, we can fix it.
Do some of these women have a man in their life, and they split sometime after the child is born?
Do some of these have no man in their life, and bring the kid to this world with no resources? And if so, why do they do that? Are they against abortion (I doubt it).
Society has been in decline with one reason being that people no longer value the meaning and importance of family. Moms and dads actually staying together and raising their kids is, what, less than 50% now?
Kids aren’t taught right from wrong, don’t respect adults and with the encouragement of a democrat president think they’re smarter than their parents.
Schools are also trying to keep parents out of raising their children. Secret gender clubs, parents won’t be told.
Government is helping to destroy nuclear families. It’s happening in all western nations.

Depends. If you were college bound, yes. For those who didn't have many prospects, there wasn't much of an incentive. And teenage pregnancy was far higher in those days than now.
It wasn't about rewarding single mothers. It was about not letting children starve to death in the United States . Which was what was happening.

Generational government handouts for single moms make it possible for them to survive on having more babies. Then the kids end up in foster care when they’re older.
Restore the nuclear family and stop the handouts.
America is a mess.
Some top 1-5% single moms (who don't need and haven't taken any handouts) have adopted as single moms and make sure there is good male influence on the kid or kids.....but that certainly isn't...extrapolated over the whole of society...the norm.

I don't know of any large american kids starving. Most are actually overfed. Even the poor ones.
But this generational dysfunctional cycle, partly due to single motherhood, causes our PK12 schools to be bogged down with kids who won't learn, making it impossible for others to learn, and then commit crimes, and are truly a burden on society from cradle to the grave.
Simply tolerating mothers making bad decisions hasn't worked.
The U.S. is worst by a wide margin...I think Canada is 2nd worst at 15%.
IMHO, this is one of the worst trends of our time, & its crushing the black community particularly.
Interesting. Im curious as to why they didnt also try to figure out how many were due to divorces/separations. People are so quick to get divorced now days so I am sure there will be a large number of those "single parent" households because of this.
Also, we need to absolutely ratify the constitution to make abortion legal IN ALL STATES!! Stop these religious people forcing their religious views on everyone else by trying to ban abortion. Abortion and being informed is vitally important. Accidents (pregnancies) happen so its good to have abortion as an option if the mom is not ready for a child.
