According to some lunatics, locking things up is 'racist' not necessarily (or only) because it seems to target a certain demographic, but because locking things up prevents said demographic from easily committing theft.
Well, that's no different from where I live in (85205.) Very little is locked away
Are you suggesting such items are being stolen because people can't afford them?
Or they are being stolen and sold to a fence because it's a way to earn money and help put food on the table?
Yeah if you do any amount of travel then you would know that the locked up stuff is not declining. It’s spreading across the country. Maybe it never reaches your zip code. But theft is skyrocketing. The average American cannot afford to pay $10 for a jar of Hellman’s. Read the financial statements of US retailers. lol - put down the crack pipe and walk away from the keyboard. I'd ask what evidence you have of your irrational claim, but I'm sure you don't have a valid source..
It doesn’t take the co-owner of one of the most profitable loss prevention consulting firms in California to figure out the old double dip scheme. So if I can do it so should you.
Tell ya what, I’ll pick you up from LAX and I’ll show you in person. We’ll go down to Santee Alley in the Fashion District, purchase 100 beard trimmers sold exclusively from CVS, run the serial numbers in the database at my disposal yielding their stolen status, then return them to a CVS location and tell the kid behind the counter they can cancel their insurance claim!
It's too bad punishment can't be at least that strong everywhere in the U.S.
What good is it doing?
We have some of the highest crime in a high crime state. Punishment is severe. Policing is aggressive. Running a red light or having a taillight out are prosecuted as misdemeanors, not traffic infractions, in this county, and punishable by thirty days in jail.
Want to live in a county where an innocent taillight or headlight issues results in a month of jail?

Nah,...those can be legit mistakes or accidents.
Stealing is never an accident. Save the harsh punishments for that. Pretty sure no one is asking for some blanket increase in punishment for jaywalking.

Yes to both.
So, why is stealing dishwashing detergent a hot item? Why aren't thieves ripping off Hellman's and other foods?
Maybe it never reaches your zip code.
Why wouldn't it? 85205 is hardly a wealthy area. It's working class. I've seen power tools at Home Depot and electric goods at Target locked away. But nothing at my local Fry's food store or the CVS/ Walgreens.
