my wife and i spend a total of $1,100-$1,400 a month on groceries and household supplies (non-food items). just the two of us. We are middle class and comfortable but not rich.

I recommend that those who are struggling get themselves a second job, maybe put one of their children up for adoption to ease the struggle. Find some subsidized child care maybe to get the boy-girlfriend-spouse out of the house and into the workforce. this is part of the American Dream....grasp it.

Yes, prices have gone up and my assumption is with some of the statistics is that the COVID gravy-train has depleted skewing the data. Now that reality has now set in it shows their lack of financial planning or rudimentary work-skills that dictate a low wage where they cannot adjust to changing circumstances.

and.....

Don't be fooled by the wonderfulness of socialism like Norway where they take 40% total of your income. grasp the amazingness of the USA system who takes 10% - 24% of your income in Federal taxes...not including the 0%-12% in State taxes (depending on the state you live in), include the 6.2% in Social Security taxes and the 1.45% in Medicare tax all of which you pay for your entire working life and not including Part B Medicare which you pay for. If you're working did I include the cost of your healthcare premium-coverage which ranges from free to at least $200.00 bi-weekly for a single person ( for some people)? While we're at it include the 6+% plus in state sales tax compared to the 10-12% VAT tax. Maybe your state also grabs another 1-2% in disability workers comp coverage also.

Add it all up and the USA is not much different. We just separate the cost to fool the populace and let them think they are getting a deal.

And since there is more of them it costs you more of them.

$1 in 2019 costs you $1.20 today

But that's ok because...you got more money

well, as long as you're doing better, that's all that matters.

US inflation means families are spending $709 more per month than two years ago

$270? Not that far off base. We don’t have expensive tastes, but certain things simply have to be good, and $300 doesn’t go that far when you’re feeding two adults and two kids in puberty. They have big mouths both in speech and in consumption

P.S. You can post all the op-eds you want. The CPI since Biden took over is approximately 17%. That's child's play in relation to how much people's net worth has gone up.
that wasn't an op-ed.

how much has the average family's net worth increased?

This is about food...spending more for food. That's it...just food.
it's not about CPI or owning a home.

It's about the cost of food....
Food is up 25% from 2019.

I posted original research the other day he kept calling an "Op-Ed". It seems that it's his default response.
