New research suggests that the average American household spends more than $1,000 per month on groceries.
The average family in America spends roughly $270.21 at the grocery store per week, according to a study by HelpAdvisor that analyzed the U.S. Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey.
That number increases when children are factored in; HelpAdvisor found that households with children spend an average of $331.94 a week at the store, or 41% higher than households without children.

I use to spend around $100 for 3 adults and 2 dogs. Still 3 adults and 1 dog now but I'm spending at least $150 -$200 a week and I use digital coupons, BOBO offers, sales, bulk buying. Just meat alone can put you in the poorhouse. Have you checked out a pack of hotdogs these days? Totino's Single Serve pizza use to be 5/$5 - now you're lucky to get them for 3/$5. $16 for a 12 pk of Gerber's baby food - if you have a couple of small kids or a baby $270 is about right.
I'm spending $125-$130 for weekly shopping where I used to spend $100 or less.
And that is with me now substituting store brands for national brands.
I also only eat meat 2-3 times a week now.
I spend ~$50/wk...don't eat meat, & eat fish 2x week, once canned, once fresh. I shop mostly at Aldi, but Walmart for stuff Aldi doesn't have.
My wife shops seperately, since our diets are so different. She shops at Publix, buys lots of BOGO's, & spends ~$100/wk.
We throw away almost nothing, which is where our biggest savings come from. We buy very little frozen, or processed foods. We shop mostly around the 3 outer walls of the store...sides & rear.

My son has an 8 month old...formula and diapers are sky high. And they can't wait to wean the baby off formula.

I check out the BOGO at Publix every week. I stocked up on chunky soup this week since it was BOGO.
Come on man, stop with the malarkey. A package of Ramen noodles is still only .39 cents, so it can't be that bad.
What do you mean, they were 4/$1 not that long ago. More than 50% increase. What are the college students supposed to do?
