Who's "abandoning" our allies? is that your spin from the Makers of War that you carry their towel and water.

The last time I read, Ike scaled back the drums of war and push for truce in the Korean War and gave the famous speech of warning us of the American and Western military industrial complex which is the main reason NATO went from 15 countries in 1991 to 31 countries. Somebody is making lots of money and is not us.

How is Russia cowards? Russia has been in over 100 wars since their inception. They are the main reason WW 2 ended in a short time with a victory on our side. That's a lot more I can say for a lot of NATO members that never have done $hiat in war and and just sucking on the American taxpayers.

This has been commonly done by both the USSR and NATO for decades.

I mean, remember the cuban missile crisis?

Not to worry. I am betting the US Military has long been prepared if Putin tries something stupid. There's probably a top secret unit, with a top secret code name, in a top secret room in a top secret building. They no doubt have been running daily table exercises on various scenarios for the last 50 years in case Putin or his predecessors does something stupid. Putin knows this.

From here on out, I'm sure that proclamations or red lines offered up by Russia will be taken more seriously than they were in 2008.

It's the height of hypocrisy too because the United States has been intervening within nations to the south of its borders for well over 100 years. And none of them share the kind of historical, cultural or geopolitical significance that Ukraine does to Russia.

As for Russia's posturing, yeah, that's kind of already been a thing throughout this engagement. Back in July of last year, Putin also said that if Polish troops entered Ukaine, they would 'remain there'. I still don't find Russia's rhetoric to be anywhere near as destructive or insane as things that are coming out of the US like this absurd notion of winning what they call a 'limited nuclear war'. There's no such thing, at least there hasn't been since the '50s when the Soviets started to catch up in terms of nuclear armaments.

Maybe I've watched too many Jason Bourne, or Jack Ryan movies but why couldn't we just "gift" Ukraine one of our R9X missiles and then they could take Putin out ? Or send in a kill team to do it ?

We don’t want to set a precedence of assassinating other countries leaders. Our President is probably more vulnerable than most. Russia, China, etc could easily take out our Prez.

Look at Ukraine and Taiwan. If the West deny Ukraine NATO membership but strengthen the country like how we do not for Taiwan, does it matter if Ukraine is not a NATO member? Today, Poutine says its NATO membership, tomorrow...???
