Here's the info straight from the EU instead of from Brown Car Guy ():

https://environment.ec.europa.eu/top...ls-proposal_en

Read it before clutching your pearls. Or your carburetor.

If your car is over 15 years old, it probably doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money on repairs. You will be spending more than the car is worth. Put your money toward a new(er) car.

But there shouldn't be a law against it.

LOL.

The outrage over a proposal made in another country that isn't even a law there yet.

If you expose yourself to click-bait fearmongering all the time it will ruin you folks, that is an apolitical statement.

I can only imagine how upset some of the posters here were when they did away with hitchin' posts out in front of the general store and habbedashery.

European Proposal to BAN 15 Year Old Cars!

IOW it's not just a blanket ban of anything older than 15 years.

Furthermore, it's just a proposal. Who knows if it'll actually be adopted. Would be surprised if it is.

In some European nations, such as Germany, car inspection requirements are already so strict that old clunker cars are de facto 'banned' anyway.
obuma's cash for clunkers lives on

Cars were still cars 15+ years ago, not rolling garbage piles of CAFE regulations like they are now.

2 out of my 3 vehicles are older than that even. I DD them both.

These posts seem to contradict themselves. The former seems to imply the story is ludicrous, the latter implies it's credible but you're a troglodyte if you object to it.

You said it...YET.

Just look at how many "Freedoms" this administration attempted to take away in just a few years. Freedoms that 7 years ago you would have called people nuts for saying such things could happen.

Your 9-year-old car is only 1 regulation away from becoming illegal.

Not always the case. I used to have a 2005 Acura CL that I bought when it was 5 years old and had 30,000-some miles. When it got to 180,000 miles, it was paid off, and I had to decide whether to get the transmission rebuilt, to the tune of $2500 or so. My mechanic (not the one who did the transmission) said it was in great shape except for that. So I did it. I drove that car to 315,000 miles, and had about 10 years of no car payments.
