Where are all of the raging democrats who criticized Rudy's stop and frisk policies during the 90s? Not a peep now.

People are going to start walking away from the guard if they are going to be used like this. These people have lives.

Wow, this is how you know its an election year.

When Trump threatened to send in the feds, folks were outraged, yet here the left is doing it.
Not only is it a sign we are in an election year, but it goes to show how fake the democrats are. Can you imagine the outrage if a Republican was doing this? To your point they went ballistic when Trump suggested it. Democrats politicians = fake people. Unfortunately, too many voters get fooled election after election.

Garsh, do you remember when governments were instituted among men to secure their Creator endowed rights to life, liberty (natural and personal), absolute ownership of private property, inherent powers, immunities and so on?
How do you secure rights in a partisan manner?
Oh, my bad, that form of government was replaced with the "tax and bribe" socialist democracy.

""The NYPD is excellent at catching the people who perpetrate crimes, but New York City doesn't want to prosecute and incarcerate anybody anymore," said Turco, who heads up the organization of 1,700 active police members and 3,500 retirees.

Turco said the whole incident – including the beat-down, the arrests and releases, the lack of deportations as well as a migrant flipping the bird to reporters – is a microcosm of what’s going on every day in the city."
Generally violent crime is reported even in those rare situations where someone is released, even petit larceny.

January had a large spike in crime in the subways and Hochul was is just attempting to make people feel safe.

A small number are repeat offenders need to be put away, that is still at the discretion of the judges and prosecutors. The bail reform from 2020 is still a work in progress but judges still have the ability to require bail in violent crimes.

Incidents of shootings, murder, and other bellwether crimes in New York City were markedly reduced again in February compared to the same month last year, while major offenses committed in the city’s subway system dropped more than 15 percent. Throughout the five boroughs, overall crime continued its downward trajectory, dipping another 1.1%.

Across the city in February, the number of shootings decreased 15.9% (53 vs. 63) compared to a year ago, resulting in 16 fewer people shot – a 19.8% reduction (65 vs. 81). Six fewer people were murdered during the month (21 vs. 27), a 22.2% curtailment from the prior February. Additionally, NYPD officers arrested 302 people for possession of an illegal firearm and seized 463 guns in February, adding to the 988 firearms taken off New York City streets through the first two months of the year – and the more than 14,600 guns seized by police since the start of 2022.

Some quotes from the OPS article:
Quote:
After crime rates retreated in February, the overall rise in major crimes for the year as of March 3 was 13 percent, Police Department data shows.

The number of major crimes committed in the transit system so far this year was about 3 percent lower than it was at this time in 2019, before the pandemic, when more riders used the system, department statistics show.
