Interesting comment, but its worth noting that you still abide by a copy of our common law. Maybe it will come to pass that your country will follow suit on our approach to firearms eventually.

Why in the world would he say that? That's a silly question.

Let’s look at a few facts:

  • We live in very polarized and divided country.
  • There are a lot a guns out there. And those guns are about equally divided among both sides.
  • The economy is getting worse and the grey area called “middle class” between the have and have-not is shrinking.

Those are a fact we all regardless of our position about guns will agree.
But if you take all those facts, mix them together and add few more ingredients as race, religion, ethnic differences….and what do you have? You have a perfect recipe for CIVIL WAR.

So here is my question to all those people who keep pointing to the 2nd amendment.
Do you really think that when our founding fathers added the 2nd amendment to the Constitution they did it in order to encourage civil war? OK... maybe encourage is the wrong word. How about to make it easier to happen. To make it possible to happen.
And one last think to all those people who are urging the others to go out and buy guns:
I wouldn’t do that if I was you because the people you are advising to do that today, maybe the people on the other side on the fence tomorrow shooting at you.

And what will that REALLY accomplish?

The gangsta' types having all of the weapons? An increase in blade violence? Victims left helpless during a home invasion?

No thanks, you keep it.
I prefer to remain hoplessly uncivilzed.

Well they knew I'm sure that overthrowing the government may result in civil war as it had in other countries. And the purpose of the Second Amendment is to make such rebellion possible.

Here's one for you anti-gun types...

Suppose you get your wish. All guns have been outlawed and confiscated. We are now a gunless society.

Then let's suppose that all the nonsense about Bush being a fascist, turning the US into a police state, etc. became true. The government has declared martial law and suspended the Bill of Rights. Federal agents routinely perform random searches of homes, churches and places of business. Anyone suspected of plotting against the government or even disagreeing with their new doctrine is summarily executed on the spot, without a trial.

What are your options?

Nope - the "cat is out of the bag" inasmuch as there are millions and millions of gun owners - and MILLIONS OF MILLIONS of guns already owned and more firearms are being purchased (in record numbers) every day.
