Someone that could kill a child like this should be beaten, raped in prison, and then shot by firing squad. Oh and no proper burials. The absolute dregs of humanity...

A lot of people have children because they think they are supposed to, or "need to" or just should because it is the thing that you do. Or, in some cases they are too stupid or lazy to take precautions not to get pregnant.

I don't like kids much and I know from personal experience that a two-year old can be especially frustrating, but just the same, I would never hurt one. That just isn't right.

It's too bad that people feel that they have to kill their children to get rid of them.

That mentality has always mystified me. Somehow an armed robber or burglar or rapist is BETTER than someone who kills a child? After all, they are probably causing undue hardship to their own children by being in prison. So who are they to judge ANYBODY?

UGH. I read the first sentence and it was like getting hit in the gut.

You will likely get the first 2 wishes directly. The 3rd one indirectly.

It's impossible for most of us to grasp how anyone can so cruel to thier children.

But don't get too down on humanity in general over cases like this. They're newsworthy because they're the rare exception to our behavior. People are capable of unspeakable cruelty, but also unexpected kindness and empathy. We're a complex species.

Prosecutors declined to seek the death penalty because they didn't think they could prove that either one would be a future danger, as required."

How can people do this? Sure, they may get frustrated with the kid but KILL them? How can you kill your child who is telling you that she loves you?

HOW HEARTLESS.

I'm glad that you are going to be a social worker --- but please have a back up plan, as social workers tend to get burned out on the job within about five years.

All the same, maybe as a social worker you can help change the way social services views adoption. As it stands now, had that 'mother' surrendered her dd to the state and admitting that she does not have the temperment to parent, the state would have been hell bent on family reunification. Some parents should not parent, and instead of guilting them into it, adoption should be made a legitimate option.

Good luck with your future career, I know that you will make a difference in many childrens lives.

Oh please.
I believe the thinking is like this ---- if you rob or murder someone it is assumed that the other person had a chance, as they too were adults. Imagine it like a fair fight.
Rapists are not looked upon well in prison, they are viewed pretty poorly and generally end up somebodies 'b**ch'. I have no idea where you would think otherwise.
But children are a different story, and there are a few reasons for that. The first is that a fight between an adult and a toddler is not a fair one, so that automatically paints the offender as a coward.
Another reason is that a lot of the people in prison had been abused as children themselves --- can you say mommy/daddy issues?
And lastly, they have kids themselves. And yes, god knows they don't think much about them while they are free but once in prison they do realize that their kids are suddenly very vulnerable to the girlfriend/wives new man, or adults in the foster care system. And it does worry them.
And lets face it, child abusers are cowards and bullies. They will be easy pickings especially for somebody who already has 'issues' with child abuse.

To all of that I say good.

I only hope the prison guards tell every prisoner what they're in for. They won't last long.

Unfortunately, these kinds of tragedies happen when there are selfish people in society who have no business whatsoever taking care of kids. To these sick individuals they care only about themselves which is too bad for a child
