I would have to disagree. A well placed shot with a .223 can take a deer or even an elk down. The point is that even a BB gun can be deadly in the wrong hands. I teach hunters safety to an enthusiastic group of 20-30 kids a year. I start by holding a BB gun and telling the group that this is a deadly weapon and end with show ALL firearms respect.
Oh, yes it will. Even my fist can penetrate the dry-wall in a modern house.
.223 will travel thought five walls like it was air. Even a 45 cal pistol round (target round) will travel a lot of walls. It's safer to use 45 cal rounds which mushroom on impact, so they won't travel through too many walls. Buck-shot from a shotgun will tear through several walls and then stop.
A .223 cal full metal jacket bullet will go through more sheets of drywall than you would think. A standard 7.65 mm nato rifle round will really surprise you.
I suggest all you folks interested in defensive firearms get some formal training and find a place to practice. Rifles are easy to learn but pistols are an art. The firearm is less important than the shooter.
If you ever have the misfortune to shoot someone, be prepared to do a lot of explaining and possibly face very high legal (and possibly psychiatric) fees. We take shooting people very seriously and you have to at least prove you were certain you were threatened before you shoot.
Actually, unless it's a single stack 1911 or a compact it seems to me that most .45's carry more than 10 rounds.
I have full size .45 magazines and they take 8 rounds. They manufacture extended magazines which hold more, but 8 is pretty standard. There are some models that take more, but I wouldn't say most do. Compact .45 usually takes only 6 rounds. That's what I've seen. Not that I have seen it all.

Okay, whatever you wish to believe. Will your fist pentrate the 2x4 behind the sheetrock?
Funny how the military considers the .223 to not be a good round for penetrating cover.
Also,if such rounds were so dangerous, why DO law enforcement agencies issue such firearms???

Yes, 7.62 NATO round will go through three telephone poles and still kill the guy hiding behind them.
And that also goes for the standard AK-47 replica which you can currently purshace in the local gun store.
