Absolutely. It could be that we will finally get sane legislation passed banning assault weapons for GOOD. Maybe America is finally turning away from the extremist right-wing direction it has been going in for 30 years.

That can't happen. Notice the difference in terminology, ending someones life the moment they're out of the womb is called "killing" or "murder" but if they're killed just before it's called "termination" (and acceptable) unless of course the "termination" is caused by another's actions then it's back to "murder".
Anyone see the dichotomy yet?

True. The media will never allow any discussion on banning late term abortions, but will hammer going after all guns. It is all about stopping evil and respecting life.

No country that has a weapons ban has totally ended gun violence or killing for that matter. Guns are effectively banned in NY aren't they? How's that working out? Why not just ban crazy people?

If you're an American then it is your right too.

Liberals hate freedoms but love a government that takes that right to freedom away.

I'll never understand that.

I think for liberals slaughtering a baby who has yet to breathe air or wear clothes is perfectly cool but once the small child puts on booties and drinks out of a baby bottle only THEN must the children be protected.

I don't get it either. Why is ripping one child apart out of the womb cool and hip but killing that child once out of the womb totally different?

Boggles the mind.

ABC News: Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

Which is a useless gesture and they know it.

The reason the assault ban was left to expire in the first place was because a thorough evaluation was done of crimes with assault rifles during the previous ban which showed it had no statistical significance in relation to when there was no ban.

That however doesn't dissuade those who are looking to appeal to the ignorance of the public by trying to appear as they are doing something useful.
