This will likely pass since most White Americans and others do not take to the streets and riot, cause trouble and scream loudly as Black Americans do.
No, they just quietly and blatantly rip off America's citizenry for billions of dollars a la Bernard Madoff. Isn't this statement as ludicrous as yours?
Quote:
So be ready to shell out more tax money to pay for it-and guess who will pay for it? That's right crackers, honkies, and Whitey's! Then again, like the above statement, we have allowed this rotten, corrupt federal government for years to give our money away overseas, well now, we will give it away at home-because no one speaks up. Once this was a nation of courage-and courage means standing against what is wrong, as in the Civil War. Now, reparations-which by the way is an idea long proposed and endorsed by that racist Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrahkan. Folks, you are witnessing not a change in America, no, you are slowly witnessing the final downfall of the United States-liberalism planted the seeds, and the rain/reign of stupidity will allow it to flourish until the vines it has spawn choke what is left of America.
Don't laugh this one off folks-it's coming, and more of this stuff is on the way.
And I for one cannot wait! I'm gonna take my reparations check and invest it in foreclosed homes or redone mortgages........getting rich the American way.
Most African Americans are not asking for and do not expect to receive reparations for the generations of slavery which our ancestors endured.
With that being said, why don't White Americans complain about the reparations that were given to Japanese Americans? Or the concessions made to Native Americans(casinos...tax free and loosely regulated)? Or the money that was used to rebuild Europe after WWII(even Hiter's Germany)? Or the money given to warlords in various countries to fund guerilla wars? Or the billions of US dollars (bribes) that are paid to a multitude of countries around the world?
Just saying...
I totally agree. I guess blacks don't deserve to receive reparations, but we can waste billions of dollars in a pointless war in Iraq. Give me a break, all those years of working for free blacks deserve it.
It all come down to one thing..HANDOUTS!
Some people always wants money for not working...free money, welfare, unemployment. No wonder this bill sounds attractive.

Let me remind ALL of you of one very important thing. Conyers as well as the other nuckle heads do not speak for every African American on this subject. This bill is BS plain and simple. So please minimize the handout, welfare and unemployment statement and chalk it up to a lot of noise from folks looking to be heard...This is from an Blackwoman that has had enough of these types of comments being directed towards every Black person because of a few.

I never said anything about black people? I said some people.

Not sure that 400 yrs of enslavement exactly counts as something for nothing.
Lotsa reasons. For one thing we took FREE Japanese citizens & locked them up, We directly stole & killed off the Indians & we intentionally blew up Europe. The reparations were timely & effective, the people we harmed were still alive in many cases & knew exactly what they were getting & why.
Slavery, as repulsive as it was, was NOT an American invention. It existed on our soil for about 350 years, The United States was in existance for less than 100 of those years. We fought a long bloody war to end it but at the time the concept of reparations was unheard of.
If slavery had lasted into the 20th century I suspect reparations would be a more favorable thing.
But today, over 150 years after the Civil war, its simply absurd. A large percentage of our black population wasn't even here at the time yet they largely associate themselves with the plight of former slaves & the racism that followed. Obama included.
Its long past time to let the water under the bridge go downstream. All that is acomplished today by bringing it up is the perpetuation of hate.
Tim, you were on point with your comment until " A large percentage of our black population wasn't even here at the time yet they largely associate themselves with the plight of former slaves & the racism that followed. Obama included" slavery may have been over for over 150 years, however Blacks "mainly our parents and grandparents" for the struggles, the degregation, segregation, civil rights movement and unequality so those images are still fresh. No matter what this is apart of the US history and it continues today. I agree we need to move forward, but we can't move on until theres equality for EVERYONE, but America can only see White or Black.

So you were a slave? Your dad maybe? Grandfather? Ok, I didn't think so. Like somebody said, find a slave alive today and he most definitely deserves the money!
