What you fail to understand is that neither of our interpretations of the amendment means a damn. The Courts are the sole interpreter of the Constitution
Yes of course I understand that. However, my view is that the SC made a huge misinterpretation. When I read the amendment, I don't see how they could have interpreted it that way. It was a political decision and there's a good chance it would be a different one today.

We are not "incompetent, out of touch, and wrong headed." That is merely your opinion. The simple fact remains that TX is one of 4 states with a surplus in the state budget...FOUR out of 50. The GOP here on our state level has done a fine, fine job.
Your buddy Obama is likely pushing for this amnesty crap to push the Hispanic vote in TX up so we'll be more likely to be yet another blue state. It would ruin our economy that we have worked hard to achieve.
The reality that you seem to fail to understand, however, is that Hispanics are generally socially conservative. If the Hispanic voters increase, the GOP's best move would be to move towards even more social conservatism.
This is the Supreme Court's interpretation of the Constitution. You can NEVER vote if you are black, End of story. The only viable approach is to change the constitution and frankly your side doesn't come close to having the votes.
This is just sour grapes from a loser party.
Hmmm, doesn't makes sense when using voting rights for blacks as an example.....

So you support a border fence along the US/Mexican border?
