I don't know, what's on the schedule of events? Toppling of President Obama statue? Anti-Obama hate posters? Coulter and Limbaugh souvenier T-shirt stands? No,I think I'll sit that one out.

I am on their distrinution list and was going to go to the tea party in Miami, but by that time they had gone way too partisan for my taste. Now they are just Republican party rallies with all kinds of anti-Obama signs. I don't want to be seen in a rally like that.

Government spending is out of control, and less sustainable than right wing environmental policy. The Fed is printing money like it's cheating at monopoly. Staggering inflation is inevitable. Texas is suggesting secession(as a native Georgian, learned my lesson here; 17 of my relatives fought on the losing side!) Yet the simple fact is a large majority of the population voted for, and approves our current path. I suggest that people who would attend an anti tax rally contact their local representatives and educate their nieghbors rather than waste perfectly good tea (I saw they dumped sweet tea in the river! Travesty!). Rampant Federalism has been the order of the day since the middle of the 1800's, and it seems like just now some realize this. Our rights have been continuously stripped and our tax burden continuously increased ever since then. BOTH political parties are equally to blame, yet Americans remain uninformed enough or unmotivated enough to allow the continuation of a two party system which paints largely along party lines that do not appeal to the average American. I love America for what it was supposed to be. An environment in which the individual can flourish. In the words of the immortal Jefferson, "Trade with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto". In the words of the immortal Rage Against The Machine, "WAKE UP!"

I am more the letter writing or e-mailing type person. Most people in congress have an e-mail address available and I know that they might listen just a little if they get a lot of feedback from the things they are doing. I am lucky to have a good congress lady representative. NC only has one senator that needs to have an attitude adjustment.

If a tea party in DC was held on the 4th of July, and if it was truly modeled on the Boston Tea Party (i.e., protesting taxation without representation), I'd be there. What better place than DC - the only group of US citizens to have no voting representation in Congress - to make such a protest?

But if it's modeled on the same lame anti-Obama protests that many of the tea parties devolved into, then hell no, I won't go.

Nope. I went to one near my hometown. It was interesting, but I heard enough Rushhannity Republican talking points to last me a lifetime. So instead I'll be at my small town parade having pie, grilled food, and iced tea under the hot midwestern sun with the folks. I have my congressman's email. I think I'll protest that way if need be.

Chielgirl: Have fun in Croatia! I've always wanted to see that part of the world.
