I totally agree. I didn't like some of the jokes, and felt like some of them were gratuitous. It was apparent to me that many in the audience were uncomfortable with them as well.
I think the President and the First Lady are in a difficult position while they're sitting there - and that applies to any President or First Lady, no matter their party. They want to appear to be enjoying the act, and to be good sports. Humor can sometimes be a little tricky too. It's not always clear where the line is between a raunchy joke and an offensive joke. The line can easily shift, depending on who is telling the joke and the context in which it is told.
Would you be so sanguine if the Pres and First Lady laughed at a gay bashing joke?
Oh! Darn! I keep forgetting...some things aren't to be made fun of. Must keep checking with the ministry of truth....must keep checking with the ministry of truth...

There's a big difference between making fun of one individual for his politics and making fun of an innate characteristic that describes an entire category of people.
Context matters too. I tell gay jokes myself to individuals who I like, but I wouldn't recite those same jokes to an audience of strangers.

Oh....I get it.
If this were a couple of years ago and they skewered (ha!) Frank and his boy ho house... Wow! The liberal press would have laughed like 1999!
I guess the context would have been the Freddie-Fannie shennanigans!
No, I don't think you "get it" at all. I think you'll twist anything that any liberal says to you and attempt to make yourself look like the wise one in the argument.
