MsMcQ LV, I noticed the same thing, only on the GT site the OP was bragging about how rattled the liberal/Democrat posters here are in the face of this thread. That doesn't seem to validate the letter's repeated use of the word "scared." In fact, it seems more like a grocery list of items with which to frighten the credulous. Is such an act trolling? Regardless, the vast majority of posts seem more amused or bemused than rattled. IMHO, it would be beneficial to lock the thread and throw away the key.
Who do I think I have finally located with that name. The language and the location of the University tell me quite a bit. Hi, lady.

I am not sure how much control of this government the unions have but when I hear the acronyms SEIU and UAW I wonder more and more. It does seem to me that they have much more say than the rest of the voters, however.
Union membership is at an all time low - about 13%. Are you claiming we are being controlled by government that is being controlled by 13% of workers?

I know, I know! Jimmy Hoffa isn't dead, but being 96 years old, he can't do much anymore. WE'RE ALL BEING CONTROLLED BY JIMMY HOFFA'S GERIATRIC NURSE! Oh my!

Lets stop and look at the fact that it is not union members that I am against. No, it is the leaders who get all the real power and money for themselves to use. I suppose you haven't seen any figures concerning how much money those two unions have spent on Obama and other Democrats the past few years. That seems to be very true. Google can supply all the figures you need in a short time if you are willing to read what they give you.

I suppose you haven't heard that our glorious leader has threatened to hold up about $6.8 BILLION dollars of stimulus money for California because their government plans to take about $74 MILLION in reduced wages for SEIU employees. I guess you haven't heard that he did this at the request of the union mentioned here. Those numbers are about as close as the numbers for AIG bonuses were to what they were handed by the feds. Something smells a bit fishy here, to me

In any case, it is often better to allow the more rational public to eviscerate the argument than to simply lock it down.

Lets face it, fear works and is almost inexhaustible in its ability to be used for a variety of purposes and even to socially engineer. Just as people say that Michael Jordon wearing a pair of Nike shoes doesn't make them wish to purchase a pair, Nike didn't pay him 17 million dollars a year because it didn't work.

I could use the example of fear of death for instance. You are about 10000000000 times more likely to die of a heart attack than a terrorist attack, yet people will issues emails such as the one posted in the OP as being a primary concern. Will a person change their eating and lifestyle habits to help prevent a heart attack or will they spend 100 times more effort forwarding these kinds of emails?

I guess people prefer fantasy scenario's over the doldrums of reality, but hey, who can blame them.
Could you hold up some of this evisceration you talk about so I can see it. I have admitted to not liking part of that letter although I do agree with it.

I am one person who has had the heart attack and according to the EMT that accompanied me in the ambulance may well have left this place for a few seconds. After I had my 6 bypass surgery and realized that for some reason I was still around I determined that I must be here for some reason and decided that what I do now could have been the reason. If I am wrong it appears to me that God would have taken care of me by now for going wrong.

Omnipotence seems to me to be a bit strong but I do think that Obama really thinks he can talk Ahmedinejad into stopping what he is doing. I do believe that he has a high opinion of what he has done with those of the Middle America area and that they have taken advantage of him.

I really think that he could be a great President if he had some help, however, what Madame Pelosi did yesterday in pure defiance of him going ahead to "get even" with all the Republicans she can is an example of what I fear. He can't control those two leaders of the Congress and that will be his downfall, in the end. I had nothing to do with the election or Reid and Pelosi and never will but I can affect the election of Obama and have to do what I can to keep things from going too far.

Go back and reread my post and those of a few other members. As one member pointed out, that list more resembled a grocery list of items that seemed to be plucked from every tree in the orchard. A litany of things that are simply from the mild to the absurd, from the meaningful to the meaningless.

I have a good number of concerns about how Obama seems to be progressing as well, as I certainly don't share his politics. I strongly opposed the draconian and almost inquisition like atmosphere during the Bush years, yet in both cases, I didn't fear the end times. I didn't curl up under my bed in the fetal position sick with worry.

When we are so afraid and so full of fear, as the writer of the OP email is, then we are restrained from acting in a meaningful manner. We tend to react to things instead of being pro-active and this only shows an example of obedience that is given when we relent to fear.

I can't help but think of what would have happened to Sparta had King Leonidas chosen to write a scroll that listed all the reasons he was afraid instead of meeting his problem at Thermopylae.

Hello back, Old Son. Still peddling snake oil, eh? It doesn't sell as well with a
smarter clientele. Tenny gives you some good advice; hope you pay attention. Tried to keep my favorite moniker but it was taken, several times over. Like it here? I do...haven't been called a "moonbat" once..sweet. Try to be a good boy, & don't wear yourself out worrying; as Casper pointed out, you haven't been right yet.

Why refute it? It's the same tired bilge we heard under Clinton for 8 years: the commies are coming, the socialists are coming, the gays are coming, the UN is coming, guns are going to be banned, they're going to tax you at a 100% rate to pay for gay weddings which will by the way be mandatory, bleh bleh.

Seriously, if you guys aren't tired of writing this crap, we're very tired of reading it.

(I must mention that I was not and am not an admirer or political supporter of the Clintons.)

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama, You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA
You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

Who Does Obama Think He Is? by Charles Krauthammer on National Review Online

Obama still hasn't told us what he thinks government should do. - By Jacob Weisberg - Slate Magazine

Obama Looks to Lincoln | Newsweek Politics | Newsweek.com

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support..

How did the Obamas pay for college and finance their house? - ObamaFactCheck.com

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

"He grew up herding goats with his own father, who was a domestic servant to the British. Although reared among Muslims, Obama, Sr., became an atheist at some point."
Barack Obama Biography - Biography.com

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

I can't find the answer to that one. But there is a whole group of people called the budget comity that can help Obama with that. I can't quote Bush word for word, but he said something along the lines that, 'if you don't like the budget, I'll send my little budget guy over to fix it.' What he said struck me as funny, that is how I remembered it. I'm sure the same little guy or one of equal intelligence is ready and waiting to help out the President. That's what's nice about being the President, delegating.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

"Obama, like many presidential candidates, has no military experience." Organizing for America | BarackObama.com

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.
Obama Blames Chrysler Bankruptcy On Investors : Stop The ACLU

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

"Hatch says Obama promised not to nominate radical"
Hatch says Obama told him he would not nominate radical or extremist to high court

IBD editorial advanced disputed claim that "radical extremist" assisted Obama's law-school application | Media Matters for America

Then of course Rev. Wright, who he denounced later.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

"There have been times where America's showed arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."
Obama blames Europe for troubles, too - Jonathan Martin - POLITICO.com

Obama Blames America - WSJ.com

Obama blames U.S. guns in Mexico - Washington Times

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

"We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded,” Obama told a Colorado Springs audience. ..."

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

OBAMA 'FIRES' GM BOSS - New York Post

UPDATE 2-Obama budget keeps $250 bln placeholder for banks | Markets | US Markets | Reuters

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

Vice-President role to shrink under Barack Obama - Telegraph

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people. Oh I won't even justify this one. He's surrounded by, what kind of people?

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.
The media did that. They coined the phrase, 'the messiah'. When it comes out of his mouth and you hear it with your own ears, then go get the patty wagon.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.
The links here in response is media. (mostly)

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.
RealClearPolitics - Articles - Obama vs. Free Speech

Obama Wages War on Freedom of Speech - HUMAN EVENTS

Obama Versus Free Speech - May 2, 2008 - The New York Sun

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Feb, 16, 2006 Obama Speech - Floor Statment - PATRIOT Act Reauthorization - Complete Text

Jan, 17, 2009 Under Obama, feds may still snoop library files

It's a grocery list. Some food for thought you'll want to keep and the rest, throw it out.
