UMMM....I am as liberal as you can get, and so are most of my friends and we live in tennessee! I don't so much think there is a movement as much as the younger generation of those who live here see what these close minded, religous right wing bunch has done to our country. We finally feel able to break away from the old tradition of our parents and decide on our own whats best for us. Or at least we can all hope!

Play your cards right and you can turn TN into another NJ.

I probably shouldn't be telling you this but it is a well coordinated effort. Several years ago at one of our Socialist Society meetings, where we sip lattes and read the New York Review of Books, someone realized that if we sent some people to the southern and western states we could tip the balance of power in those underpopulated places and turn them to our side while still maintaining sufficient population in out coastal strongholds. It took a lot of cajoling to get people to sign up for the program but it continues unabated. Before you leave you are given a class on how best to blend in - things like the proper use of ya'll, how to make grits, and tips on how to make any country song sound like a Mozart concerto.

We are already seeing the program pay off in places like North Carolina and Montana. This will continue as the years go by. It is not perfect. The lack of good pizza and a decent bagel has caused some to go native, but overall it has been successful.

It may never happen in places like Mississippi or Oklahoma since even the incentives that are offered to move to such undesirable places are not enough to get people to go. It won't happen overnight but it will happen.

To steal a phrase from noted conservative comedian Glen Beck "We Surround You!"

I am not from the south, but I had the good sense to vote for the libertarian candidates last election. meanwhile, the rest of the transplants must have voted a straight ticket, because we now have a moronic governor.

PS. pizza in NY sucks.
