Quit worrying about mid-terms and/or 2012. Admit that extra revenue will most likely have to be raised by various tax increases. Most Americans are okay with increased taxes for Health Care Reform. In my opinion, a majority of people will appreciate the brutal honesty. If cable news throws a fit, who cares ... it's time to do what is right - 1) Reform Health Care 2) Be honest about revenue.

When will Obama+Democrats grow a pair?

Shouldn't they have the surgery done first?

In a more global economy, it's easy to pick up and move to another place.

I also see tax havens and loopholes (both legal and not) garnering huge business.

Agreed. The lack of transparency on this has been astounding. Obama's an intelligent guy, he should be able to sell this plan, warts and all, if the numbers make sense. Hiding the tax increases until after the bill is passed will fester more resentment than if he was upfront about it.

Also, get rid of Don't Ask, Don't Tell & legalize gay marriage in all states. Quit kowtowing to the bigots.

The federal government has no authority to legalize gay marriage in the states.

Obama is counting on mo' money from the banks ala campaign contributions for the '10 and '12 elections.

Yeah the American people are ok with raising taxes as long as it is on someone else. There are only some many times you can go to the rich well before there is nothing left. And after compensation changes on Wall Street there are a lot fewer rich!

True, but then they would be wrong ideologically 90% of the time.
