The lust and need for power and recognition is just unbelievable from this bunch of phony posers........The obvious question would be , umm Mrs Boxer, what exactly was it that you worked so hard at to get the title Senator? Maybe instead of looking for oil, you should be looking for an education. Learn something about government before you comment on it. Really, it's just sad.
I dont like Boxer but I think she's right in this case. She SHOULD be referred to as Senator. You dont call a judge "sir" or "mam" in a court of law and I think in hearings like this you should be referred to by your title.
Of course, you cant fault the general as I think he was just being respectful and showing his respect.
Too bad the video wasn't longer...before he called male Senator's "sir", so nothing wrong with this general, just with this ego!
There are some military officers with a similiar attitude she has. It's commonly called the little man condition. An officer who's not sure of himself will sometimes throw his rank around to try to assert authority over others. That's exactly what Boxer was trying to do to him. An officer that is confident in their position and leadership skills does not need to throw his/her rank around unless it is absolutely necessary.
Ya think the General has never corrected a subordinate about being properly addressed?
Being addressed as madam is rather diminutive and a bit patronizing in this day and age.
In our military services you learn that the word ma'am is the official way to speak to a superior woman. That man gave her what they use to show deference to female officers and nothing more. He should have avoided any question she may have put to him after her upbraiding of him. The fact that she is a Dem Senator means nothing.
