Are you serious? How can someone with access to a computer be so ignorant and naive.

If Geechie North has not already lost all credibility with every fair minded person on this board then this comment should do it. Wow.

california is still having trouble with the budget, even after saying that they had the solution yesterday:
(07-16) 04:00 PDT Sacramento - -- Budget negotiations between the governor and legislative leaders stalled late Wednesday night over the question of whether schools should receive billions of dollars to make up for deep cuts over the past two fiscal years, Democratic lawmakers said.Despite the disagreement, lawmakers plan to return to the negotiating table today. "It's not a complete breakdown," said Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento.

With the state facing a $26.3 billion shortfall, school spending is expected to face billions of dollars in reductions, and Democratic lawmakers are arguing to have $11 billion in funding repaid in future years.

But Republican lawmakers argued they should focus on solving the current deficit rather than future spending.

"What we're focused on is this year's budget," said Assembly GOP leader Sam Blakeslee, R-San Luis Obispo.

it looks like liberal democrats are still trying to spend money they don't have!

Walmartistan? Are you insane?

The reason our economy is smaller is largely because we have 13 million less people.

Something you likely don't know - TX has more Fortune 500 companies than any other state - yes, including California.

Texas: Number One for Big Business - Fiscal Notes Special Energy Issue

Oh, and oil is NOT the only industry in Texas.

A few months ago, Forbes ranked the worst states for business. Five would be considered blue states; the other five, red.

In fact, the worst three are red states: West Virginia, Louisiana, and (Palin's) Alaska.

Texas is a much more similar state to CA. Comparing CA to any of the 3 states you mentioned doesn't make any sense.

If Alaska, West Virginia, and Louisiana had the same legislature CA does, you can be assured they would be much worse places to do business than they already are.

They are trying to guarantee the cuts aren't permanent, I don't have any problems with that.

Shortsitedness is what got us into this mess in the first place. Cutting a bunch of neccesary programs for the sake of cutting them is dumb.

And that's why my city is loosing it's last ER... No more Emergency Facilities takes away the question of refusal to treat emergencies,

Private Hospitals are expanding in the suburbs and closing in the cities because more patients in the cities are uninsured.

Don't bother, I lived in both states as well, he is talking out of his nether regions. If we got down to the dirty facts of the states, he would sit there drooling like an idiot trying to defend California.

Therefore a small minority of right-wing Republican lawmakers are able to block any tax increase, or any other revenue raising bill for that matter, from passing.
First, Prop 13 allows for automatic 2% yearly increases... not 1%

Second, School Construction requires 55% approval and not 2/3

What's wrong with the electorate reining in Spending? If the people wanted higher taxes the last election would have had different results.

Prop 13 is the last vestige voters have to even have a prayer of reining in Sacramento...
