California's going bankrupt and they still have money this crap? I swear, it's like they don't care any more.

But imagine the hardships for the get community if San Francisco was underwater: It is very hard to sachet and limp around in 5 feet of water.

I don't know, maybe some good could come out of global warming. (I'm kidding, there is no such thing as global warming)

We know what California will look like in 2100. It will look and probably sound like Baja California. A much drier place where potable water will be a real issue. The new California will be in the Pacific NW which will be Californicated!

Funny how all global warming data only goes back a few hundered years, at most, just a drop in the bucket.

Cap and trade is another example of how to sneak higher taxes in.

I would say that sea-level rise is the least of California's problems.

LOL agreed. gang violence, drugs, crime in general. I could not be paid enough to live in that state.

A large portion of California will be under water in 2100.

OTOH the people in the much maligned Central Valley would be happy ; beach front property in Fresno and Bakersfield!

In the long term there is a relationship.

If CA were seen as environmentally sustainable there would be more investment and more jobs created in CA which would reduce gang violence and crime. Who wants to build if the land's going to be unfit for human habitation of any sort or would be underwater?

As for drugs, however, CA's long had more than other states, going back to when drugs were first criminalized. Open drug dealing in downtown L.A. has been documented as far back as 1922 meaning that it probably started with the Harrison Act.

And interesting someone from PA would talk about CA's (admittedly severe) crime problems. How's North Philly doing these days?
