No one should die because they cannot afford health care, no one should go broke because they get sick, and everyone should have access to affordable health insurance. If you agree, please post this as your status for the rest of the day

And good for him. A President to be proud of.
Oh, but you see, he won't admit that now, publicly. He is trying to hide the fact that his ultimate goal is single-payer. That's why the public is skeptical of his claims - was he lying then or now.

No one should be compelled to work for the benefit of another - involuntary servitude - so that no one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke or lose their family's house because they get sick.

Voluntary charity is a blessing.
Compulsory charity is a curse.

OK, I'm going to ask you a question I've asked several times over:

What if there aren't enough " volunteers" around to take care of everybody? What do we do then under your system?

Sen. Lincoln Reverses Position on Public Option - Roll Call

Quote:
Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), still facing the prospect of a tough re-election in 2010, has reversed her position on the public insurance option, saying Tuesday she will oppose the measure as a part of health care reform after previously expressing support for the policy, the Arkansas News reported.

I presume you already know the answer - some will suffer, some will die.

That happens under any system. No government imposed system can promise that less will suffer, less will die. You can't even sue the government for FAILURE to protect!

However, under a compulsory / socialist system, MORE will suffer, by compelling the whole populace to labor on behalf of OTHER PEOPLE.
And don't be so coy as to ignore the skim taken by the benign Socialist bureaucracy, managing it all "for our own good".

If you believe that involuntary servitude (slavery) imposed so that the bureaucratically defined "eligible" parties can enjoy health care at someone else's expense is good, by all means, hold that opinion.
But don't fool yourself that it's based on morality. And such a system WILL NOT SERVE MORE PEOPLE IN NEED.

Government / public option
  • cannot impose lower costs, without paying less to the care givers, suppliers and hospitals
  • cannot increase the number of patients served without increasing the number of licensed care givers
  • cannot increase the number of licensed care givers without building more medical schools, funding more students, and perhaps, lowering standards to get more graduates.
  • cannot increase hospital bed space, without building / funding more hospitals
  • cannot do anything but increase the cost - for everything
  • raising the cost within a finite resource system, will exclude more people, whether by triage, rationing, or delay

The "War on poverty" that began in the 1960s, did NOT eradicate poverty.
In fact, one look at the homeless crisis and it looks like the opposite occurred. The number of people falling below the "poverty level" has not decreased since 1960s.

You cannot burden the productive for the benefit of the non-productive, and expect prosperity.
You cannot rob St Peter to pay St Paul, and call it Christian charity.
You cannot reward the consumer, and penalize the producer, and expect a healthy economy.
And you can't share a surplus when the surplus doesn't exist.
Socialist piracy is the equal sharing of the booty stolen from the people, under the threat of government.

And no one should be compelled to labor for the benefit of another, just so no one should die, go broke, or lack access to health care.

Slavery is not justified, no matter how you spin it.

Voluntary charity is a blessing.
Compulsory charity is a curse.

If you think extortion by government is desirable, why would you object when private parties extort your money?
It's for "their own good", right?
But YOU OBJECT to their THEFT of your wealth.

Canada's system exists to prove jetgraphics wrong. There is a ton of waste in the current US system. Canada's single-payer system is way more efficient in terms of administrative costs and paperwork despite being run by a government.
